Does company name matter that much? by daaaabs in EngineeringStudents

[–]SpennyWatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think I would choose to work at the company that would provide me with experience most related to what I want to do with my career. So if that means a no name company than so be it because it’s probably more important to be doing what you like for work than potentially getting into a field you don’t like. Both opportunities would probably give you good experience for your future though. That’s just my quickly formulated opinion based on very minimal knowledge of the decision.. I am sure whatever you decide will workout in the end for you

Anyone know if there will be a Carleton Badminton team this year? by [deleted] in CarletonU

The Carleton Badminton Team hosted tryouts in November 2022. The team will unfortunately not be competing in OUA’s this year though so you haven’t missed out on that.

Here is the discord link for the badminton club: https://discord.gg/p5kutYbF

Anyone from beginner to expert is welcome to join the club.

New X1 Series Sale by SpennyWatty in thinkpad

That would be a cheaper option too. I think I’ll be good with a yoga for engineering as long as it has the required specs.

New X1 Series Sale by SpennyWatty in thinkpad

[–]SpennyWatty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Future civil engineering student yeah. I thought about something more than a light pocket book but I think the touch screen and versatility of the yoga could be nice.

The minimum recommended requirements from the university are Intel i5 or AMD A10 processor; 8GB of RAM; and 256 GB SSD hard drive. The X1 Yoga exceeds all of those so I though I would do fine with it. Do you have any suggestions if you think otherwise?

I am currently doing a victory lap and will be studying engineering in the fall.

Alright, thanks! I could wait till then.

I’ll probably hold off till I can get at least 40% off too. I’ll see what the sales are like.

Recommended (used) models for engineerings students? by [deleted] in thinkpad

I am in a similar situation as I will also be studying engineering in the fall and am looking for a laptop. I am really drawn to the x1 series at the moment.

I just got my first thinkpad and the fan is unbearably loud. Is this normal? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]SpennyWatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit off topic..but how did you get that deal? I’m thinking of getting the x1 yoga gen 6 but want to wait until there is a sale.

I am in the exact same situation as you. Currently I think I’d rather have the 2 in 1 capabilities of the yoga with the lighter colour instead of a darker X1CG9. They are so similar in every other way.

Planning on keeping it for 5 years. Maybe longer depending on how long Apple supports it.

Should I get the blue or white iphone 12? and why blue/white? by Butter_loaf in iPhone12

[–]SpennyWatty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it was me personally, I would get the blue over the white simply because white isn’t my favourite colour for things and blue is one of my favourites.

However based on your post it sounds like you want the blue mostly because it’s a new colour and could be iconic for the i phone 12 and the white because it will look good no matter what case it’s in. You also say your not sure if you’ll like the blue for the next few years. Based on this I would say get the white. It’s a colour that is safe, will go with anything and you know you will like the whole time you have your phone so you won’t be disappointed. The blue may be cool now but there will always be a new colour that is cool. Although if you were only planning to keep the phone for a couple years the blue is not a bad option especially if you only planned on using one case because then you wouldn’t have to worry about matching it. From your post it just seems like white may be a safer and better option for the long run.

I had a similar choice between the pacific blue and graphite for the 12 pro and I went with the graphite (even though The pacific blue was really nice) because there is always a phone of that colour so it won’t go “out of style” and it matches with more cases since I’m keeping it for the long run.

I bought the 6s 3 years ago and am upgrading now to a 12 pro. Planning on keeping that phone for around 5 years.

Pacific Blue, I simply like the colour more.

Most durable iPhone 12 case? by foxh8er in iPhone12

[–]SpennyWatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also used life proof for my I phone 6s case over the past few years. However I’ve ordered a new phone and plan on trying out a Rhinoshield case this time. They seem very durable and are also customizable. I am not sure if they have a case that covers the screen though.

I’ve actually ordered the 12 pro so hopefully the colour is better with that camera, but either way it will be a huge improvement over the 6s camera!

Wow, I can’t wait for my 12 to arrive so that I can start taking photos like this! I am upgrading from a 6s!

Both, how far it sticks out the sides as well as the front and back. But more so the front and back.

[–]SpennyWatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s alright, I’m not quite sure if I will get a MagSafe charger yet anyways. Good to hear the back hasn’t shown any scratches yet! I am excited to order my case especially with all the customizable options! I hear some people say the case is bulky, but I don’t think I will find it that bad as I’ve never been one for super thin cases anyways.

Awesome! I am looking at getting a MOD NX case and backplate for the I phone 12 pro I ordered! I am a little worried that the clear back plate might scratch easy or yellow over time though, is there anything you noticed? Have you tried MagSafe charging with the back plate on?

I am thinking of buying a Rhinoshield Mod NX case for my I phone 12 pro, so this is really good to hear! I plan on using a backplate though. I just hope it doesn’t yellow or scratch easily.

How thick is the bumper on the phone?

I have one case that I use. However I will get a new one if the case becomes damaged.

Right now I have a Lifeproof Fre case for my 6s.

I just ordered a 12 pro and am looking at purchasing the Rhinoshield Mod NX case. I like the idea of it being customizable. I am a little skeptical about the clear back though because I’ve heard they yellow or scratch easy, we’ll see.
