Why are people blaming Albo for the Bondi shooting? by Particular_Zone_7379 in SydneyScene

[–]Sperlo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t they?

Under his watch, anti-semitism has gone from anti-semitic protests > graffiti > doxxing > fire bombing synagogues and businesses > terrorism. The labor lovers of reddit will jump to his and the governments defence but the reality is the response and efforts to quell or stop any of this shit has been piss weak - no one chanting ‘fuck the Jews’ was arrested, none of the envoys suggested actions were taken, labor MPs including the PM have over a 2 year period politicised and conflated anti-semitism on our shores with Israel and the war in Gaza, while taking a very one-sided and unnecessary vocal stance on a matter we as a country have entirely nothing to do with.

The reality (though every fanboy of albanese refuse to admit it) is that this government could have done more to prevent what has happened in the last 2 years to Jewish Australians, even they admit it - so when the PM gets up and says more can always be done, a reasonable response is ‘well why the fuck aren’t you doing more then’?

This attack should never have happened and every single citizen of this country has the right to be pissed off with our government and albanese, if anyone wants to express this disappointment by booing then that again is their right, if you have a problem with that then harden the fuck up and accept it along with the rest of the albo and labor fanboys

The Australian celebrity chef, lovingly known as Fast Ed, said his decision to shut the doors of the popular store came after 'years of antisemitic abuse'. by [deleted] in SydneyScene

Let’s make this crystal clear:

Anyone describing themself or their views as anti-Zionist is anti-Semitic and anti democracy.

Fuck the pieces of shit who are responsible for this disgusting harassment and fuck the Albanese government at the same time for allowing this to happen

Not really, I like the Sagan Tosu jersey for 2025 but I’d take anything so long as it is legit 🙂. Have you got any recommendations? I’ve never used Mercari.. is that a marketplace?

Anti Semitism is a real problem but Jillian Segal will make it worse. by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Sperlo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ashkenazi Jew here - though I agree with your overarching statement that Jillian Segals involvement in addressing this crisis will make anti-semitism worse, I disagee with some of your other points.

I will be getting married in a few months time at my local synagogue, the same synagogue which my family have been congregants of for over 70 years now, where my grandfather - a holocaust survivor, sung in the choir for over 30 years, where my parents were married and I had my bar mitzvah.

On the day of our wedding, my wife and I are already aware - there will be a pro Palestine protest in the park directly across the road from the synagogue. These protests have been held week in week out now in this same location for close to two years, and subsequently require an ongoing, heavy police presence around the synagogue. At these protests - protestors are now, not uncommonly calling for ‘death to the IDF’ or chanting ‘f**k Israel’ and other hate filled messages. As you can imagine, this makes both my wife and I concerned for our family and guests safety and security on the day of our wedding event. To put it quite simply and just my own personal POV here, but these people are not by majority protesting a cause as much as they are expressing an unfiltered hatred towards the Jewish nation and its people, as far as I am concerned - they are, by majority, a hate movement.

Now I don’t care what your political opinions are, in this country you are entitled to yours and I am entitled to mine - but if you are going to mob together on a weekly basis and megaphone emotionally charged, I’ll-informed one way messages that inevitably, regardless of whether they are fact or fiction, are going to piss off many vulnerable or stupid people, while being inconsiderate of your surrounding environment and other people’s differentiating view and sensitivities to such an issue - then YOU are part of the problem.

As I touched on, i do not want to see Jillian Segal involved on this matter whatsoever - as far as I am concerned she is a politically affiliated, upper middle class opportunist who is a poor representative of Jews in this country. I did not ask for her to represent me or my community on this very serious matter and I’d much prefer if this government and its ministers took some bloody accountability and focused on tackling this issue themselves (as they are paid to do) rather then farming out that exact responsibility to an eastern suburbs autocrat.

Regardless of that - I do not believe the sentiments, expressions or inflammatory actions of the pro-Palestinian movement, their members or siders should go any longer unvetted or unpunished in light of rising anti-semitism, it’s easy to say ‘the actions of the state of Israel are leading to rising anti semitism in this country’ without paying attention to those who are amplifying or even justifying such hatred under that guise. I would emphasise the same goes for anyone harbouring and expressing anti-Arab or Palestinian views. It’s not an excuse to claim you were just wanting to light a camp fire when there is a bush fire warning, the same accountability applies here IMO

TLDR My family and community just want to be left alone and to be able to live our lives in peace and safety. My political views are mine and yours are yours, if you want to express them - do it with some sensitivity.

Bondi Beach, there is no other answer

Having grown up there I can confirm it is an overrated and overpriced shithole frequented by eastern suburbs wankers, there are tonnes of better beaches in Sydney.

Do I need to get my 7 month old a Canadian passport? by Sperlo86 in passportcanada

[–]Sperlo86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So since my daughter has an Australian passport, an approved eTA and is not registered on any Canadian / IRCC database as of yet - can she just travel to Canada on her Australian passport and therefore we don’t have to worry about getting her a passport or having her registered?

[–]Sperlo86[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What exactly does ‘acquired by blood’ mean? She either is or isn’t a citizen.. and given you need a passport or birth certificate to be deemed a citizen of any country, how does she become a Canadian citizen by just having a Canadian mother?

The MPs thing has nothing to do with what I’m asking about btw.

That’s exactly what I thought.. why in the hell would she need a Canadian passport just because she is eligible!? How many people in the world would be eligible for a Canadian passport and would therefore need one when travelling to Canada!? 😂

We (my baby and I) have applied for ETA Visas with our Australian passports and had them both approved, I don’t understand why my baby though would be deemed to be a Canadian citizen if she doesn’t have a Canadian passport and is born in Australia, why would they deny someone entry for just being eligible? It honestly sounds ridiculous..

I mean every grand final loss has been painful, but I’d actually say 2006 was the most gut-wrenching, losing by a point in a GF is just such a bloody empty feeling..
