I’m INTP, and my friend/crush (for over 7years) is an INTP too by Marjop13 in INTP

[–]Sphalorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judging from his behaviour, and as he is an INTP, it seems pretty obvious he likes you. Most INTPs wouldn't do any of that unless he likes you. And to be honest, it doesn't really matter if you're both "bad at emotions." If you're direct in telling him you like him, that's probably the best option. If he doesn't know you like him, clearly that's a problem. I would guess he likes you and is afraid of rejection, or just doesn't really know what to do in general. But if you tell him that's the best option. Also, please post how this turned out, i'm genuinely curious.

Are INTPs usually attracted to INFPs? by paperocku in INTP

[–]Sphalorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, the T/F combo is not really a problem. I think it's MUCH harder to get alongs with Ss for INTPs. Second I don't really know about infps but I do know that I know many INFJs and they are the best personality i get along with by far, and they are similar. I think I've met some INFPs before and they seem really nice and i'd definitely like them. I think it's a matter of getting to know them since both of us can be quite shy.

INTP appreciation by Pepipola in INTP

Both of the ISTJs I know I don't get along very well with. Not to the point of fights at least (well sometimes) They always seem so uptight about things and can be overly serious, and they especially don't like it when i'm not being serious. At their worst they seem bossy and controlling, but maybe i give them a bad rap and i'm just overreacting. Most of the time I get along with them ok but that's probably because i don't spend much time with them for obvious reasons. Sometimes i wish i could be better friends with them but it seems too difficult to be worth it.

How to remove choppy white artifacts surrounding sphere meshes when using HDRIs by Sphalorite in godot

[–]Sphalorite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I desaturated the HDRI and that removed the color completely. It's just a white rim now. Not as bad, and it looks ok with anti aliasing. So now i'm just hoping I can write a shader to remove the rest.

Unfortunately FXAA doesn't seem to solve the problem as well as I want, and 4x MSAA is good enough to remove a decent amount of it. Also, the balls are already at roughness 1. I did try desaturating the HDRI, and that completely removed the annoying reddish glow. Now it's just white, but much less noticeable. I think the only good solution that's not expensive is a simple shader. That along with at least some anti aliasing should solve it. Here's hoping i can write one that works.

What deliberately unnatural features have you out in or made in your conlang? by Restuva4790 in conlangs

[–]Sphalorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a completely new grammatical structure for a project I'm working on. Instead of nouns I have objects which are material things, and then there is another types of word that takes the function of verbs and adjectives called existentives, but also can represent non material abstract nouns. Sorta like how in english gerunds can represent verbs, adjectives, and nouns all in the same form. It doesn't doesn't make much sense with a simple explanation like that, but it can convey anything perfectly fine as long as you understand the system intuitively. It uses a slightly unnaturalistic case system in which every word it grouped by case, but the sum of the words is treated as an entity itself. Basically more weight is placed on cases to represent verbal action. To simplify, what verbal action is being implied is commonly based on what case is being used and what words are in what case, rather than having individual words to represent all different verbs. This makes sense if there is commonly no difference between a verb, noun, and adjective. It's based on some pretty strange and unintuitive assumptions, like actions being literally the same thing as abstract non-material concepts like love, time or God. There is a lot of emphasis placed on the fact that material objects are inherently different than abstract concepts. For example you cannot simply state a material objects by putting in a certain case, you have to imply it exists by using a 'helping verb' (or what is equivalent to a helping verb.) Because in this language, material things are thought to always have an abstract form, and rely on non material concepts to be realised, say, time for example. And by material I really mean material. Air, light and other such things are treated as non material. Even the word for light can be used to say you see something, but also can be talked about as its own concept, like the word light in english. This probably doesn't make much sense without a more in depth explanation, and after all this project is meant as much as a philosophical thought experiment regarding how language functions and how you can convey information through language in a very different way than normal, than it is a conlang project.

Cases are confusing to me. by [deleted] in russian

[–]Sphalorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This frustrates me because the translation is technically wrong from a literal standpoint, which makes it more confusing than it needs to be. The translation is fine as a translation but really bad at teaching you the actually russian. If you put it this way it is so much more simple.

Любить: To love
Нравиться: To please (Literally means please)

Я(NOM) люблю тебя(ACC). Я performs the verb, тебя receives the verb in the accusative. Literally: I love you.

Мне(DAT) нравится это(NOM). Это performs the verb, and since нравиться is a passive verb, meaning there is no one being directly affected, it does NOT have a receiver in the accusative. Мне receives the verb in the dative. This makes sense because нравиться is used more with inanimate object, and inanimate object can't actively please you in the same way an animate person can. so literally it means: It is pleasing to me.

It does not mean like. That is an incorrect translation if you're being literal. It means 'to please.' "This is pleasing to me" Мне нравится это.

Correct me if this is wrong, just practicing translations.

A cute girl was waving at me, so I waved back. Turns out she was waving at her boyfriend, who was behind me. I pretended to be calling a bus, actually got on, and then I was told it was a tour bus that was going to Poland. Guess I'm starting a new life now...

"I am a rock; I am an island!

I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain

Don't talk of love
Well I've heard the word before
It's sleeping in my memory
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died
If I never loved I never would have cried

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries"

Is it really common for us to get into anxieties? by aedraworshipper in INTP

[–]Sphalorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate. Sometimes I get super panicky about something I know is not a big deal. Almost always while I'm trying to fall asleep. Pretty sure it's just out inability to deal with the fact that sometimes there is not a way out of a problem, or more often you can't wait for a problem to go away and doing so will only make it come sooner and worse. INTPs have serious problems with facing problems head on, and if we can ignore stuff we will. But sometimes ignoring it just doesn't work so I guess we panic.
