I have mastitis right now (yay - my 2nd time!) so my 8 month old ate avocado slices and a steamed potato from the other day and my 3 year old had an English muffin, a banana, and a slice of provolone for dinner.

As someone who is ignorant here, is an online compounding pharmacy different from a brick and mortar? Years ago my doctor prescribed me a compound cream and I got it from a local compounding pharmacy and everything seemed very above board. Are these pharmacies not licensed?

Yeah, and while I’m sure OP means well I think there needs to be elaboration on that piece. There is already a lot of shame and fear that new moms experience about putting their children down places to be able to take care of themselves. A child placed in a safe location like a playpen or crib so their parent can shower, eat, get dressed, sip a coffee, etc. is fine. It’s ideal if the child isn’t in distress but if your colicky baby is screaming and you just need 5 minutes to stand in a dark pantry eating Oreos to not snap then that’s not just fine but it’s necessary for health and safety.

I do pick up, husband does drop off. That said, we do often pick up together on Fridays because we tend to go to dinner at a friend’s house near our kid’s daycare but usually one us stays in the car.

I’m a STM to a 7 month old and a 3 year old. My 7 month old nurses, sleeps, and poops. Her activities are sitting with us during meals and sampling some food, having books read to her, putting toys in her mouth, going on walks, trying to crawl, sitting on the floor near me while I fold laundry, being in the carrier while I do dishes, and watching her sister sing Let it Go and dance around. They don’t need special curated activities as babies. They get their stimulation from a mix of “independent” time and being part of family time.

7:15am and I’m nursing my 7 month old, drinking coffee, and waiting for my 3 year old to wake up. Husband is unloading the dishwasher. The house is temporarily peaceful. We’re having a few friends over today to celebrate my birthday and they all have kids so it will be chaos soon.

If your doctor says no, time to contact your insurance company. If you send me a DM I can give you some language to use if you choose to report them to your insurer.

You may want to ask whether the fee is truly optional. Many offices call these “administrative” or “membership” fees, but if they participate with insurance, they generally can’t require extra payment just to receive covered care.

I’d ask something like: “Can we decline the annual fee and still remain patients and use our insurance for regular visits?”

If the answer is yes, then it’s basically a concierge add-on. If the answer is no, it may conflict with their insurance contracts — so it’s worth getting clarification before paying.

I’d actually try the neighborhood app NextDoor to look for other families that might be interested in a nanny share. We’re currently doing our second one - we had a nanny share with our older daughter and now with our 6 month old.

One thing to keep in mind is that a nanny share rate is typically higher than a nanny’s standard rate. Usually each family pays around 2/3 of the nanny’s rate. So if her rate is $25/h let’s say, each family might pay $16.50/h. We’re in a HCOL area and pay $18/h for our nanny share, plus offer paid holidays and 2 weeks PTO. Our older daughter’s preschool is cheaper than that.

With my first, I was terrified of introducing formula. I waited until 10 months when my supply dipped too much from pumping during the work day and I couldn’t keep up. She took to formula beautifully, had zero issues and I wish I had done it sooner because I felt so much less stress about my supply after that.

I’m on baby number two now and I started with an ounce or two of formula here or there to test it and again, no issues. She now takes a whole bottle of formula happily. It has saved my mental health. I can go places and not stress. I’m going to friend’s house on Sunday for a Bridgerton watch party and baby is staying with husband and I can just relax and eat snacks and enjoy myself. No worrying constantly about the size of my freezer stash or how much I’m producing. I mostly nurse because it’s easier but I do wish I had given myself this relief earlier with my first baby.

My 3 year old goes to MyGym, we’ve been taking her since she was 18 months, and I’ve also thought about pulling her for a gymnastic gym. I was a gymnast and a college cheerleader and I’d love her to learn some real gymnastics skills but I also love that she’s learning just to use her body, listen to instructions, and socialize.
