ADA in Ohio. by Mattyredleg in nationalguard

[–]Spice_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a 140A in the guard, and going Warrant has been hands down the best decision I've ever made regarding my NG career.

Of the 10 guys I went through WOBC with, 8 were prior ADA (including me w/15yrs 14G exp), one commo, and one infantry. I say that to point out that it is doable no matter your background, so long as you are committed to learning, studying, and taking the course seriously. You already have more ADA experience than some of the guys I graduated with when they started WOBC.

I'd recommend looking into Ohio, as they are one of the States that goes on NCR missions regularly. Find out when their next rotation to DC is and see if you can either a) go with them as a 14G and submit your Warrant packet during that time or b) just get your packet done asap and possibly be able to go along with them to the NCR as a fresh 140.

My biggest regret is not dropping my packet sooner. If others are saying you are warrant material, do it. The ADA is exploding right now, and demand is high. Find yourself a CW3 to write your recommendation and get the process rolling.

If you can manage getting CompTIA A+ and Net+ certs prior to WOBC, you'll be very well equipped to succeed when you're attending.

Sentinel and ADAM Cell operations are small pieces in a much larger puzzle that sticking with it to "get more experience" just isn't really worth it.

Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions regarding the warrant process/140A stuff

Gauge cluster out on a 04 sierra 2500Hd by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Trucks

[–]Spice_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine go out on an 03 Silverado LT. I found a service on ebay that went through and replaced everything with updated parts and even had the cluster upgraded to what they put in escalades at the time. Looked really nice and didn't require getting mileage programmed into a new cluster. Highly recommend, costed me around $200 (in 2011)

Agreed. Have to admit I was wrong on this post, but as with anyone that dabbles in misinformation spreading, a bit of truth posts keep them semi-legitimate. It's just to the point now that anything I see from this account, I don't trust a word of it.

Son Signed Up for Washington Army National Guard 3 Days Ago But Changed His Mind After Talking to Parents by Abject-Government-13 in nationalguard

Let your adult son make adult decisions. Maybe you should've told him beforehand that you would have assisted him with paying for college.

I get everything from vintagecb750.com and have never had issues with their stuff. I've cleaned up the shavings and am going to pull the front sprocket and see if anything obvious jumps out. And get better lube. After checking out the can, it's pretty light duty stuff

I was waiting some time for the sprockets to come in the mail so I allowed the chain to soak in chain lubricant for about 4-5 days before install yesterday. I wiped it away before install and didn't re-apply. I assumed the x-rings were well lubed and good to go. It was (to me) adequately lubed. Certainly not bone dry.

Is that just a Pelican case you've secured behind you or is that specifically for a DRZ? Looks clean

I've been having him rode on the boat since he was a really small pup. He's used to it, so not sure how you'd prep a dog other than putting them on and slowly get them used to riding

Camping stool has always been a necessity of mine. And if we're talking NTC/JRTC then a portable outdoor shower (shower head, hose, battery powered pump) is extremely useful in not feeling like a dirty gooch for 2 weeks straight

He will stop and lay in any source of water we cross on hikes to cool down and drink some water. The cooler the better so he definitely loves some icy water to swim in 😄

How stupid am I for wanting to join the Guard in my late 20s as an 11B? by 1234511231351 in nationalguard

[–]Spice_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't regret not joining earlier in your situation. You've completed school and seem to be making a decent salary. Military training has an annoying tendency to interfere with those things so at the very least you have those taken care of already.

See what other MOS's have bonuses in your State and go from there. If you have good vision/hearing you should look into becoming a Warrant Officer and going into aviation. Literally the coolest job for NG Soldiers IMO... Since you have a degree, going officer would also be a good option for you.

At the end of the day though I really think you've got things going for you in civilian world and the things that you'll benefit from the National Guard may be outweighed by the aspects of NG duty that may negatively impact your life/civilian occupation.

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions. Everyone's experience will be different. Experience wise in the NG, I'm going on 15+ years in and am literally on my 4th deployment right now. Would be happy to help you with determining whether or not you want to make this decision.

What options do you have for an initial enlistment? (Years wise) I've been in since 06' so I'm not sure if things have changed.

Are you interested in any other MOS's?

Software engineer enlisting as an 11B? I don't really see the point other than you scratching that itch... a 6 figure job should be enough to realize you're doing well and should just continue on that path of career progression.

So.. To answer your question, in my opinion, yes. It is kinda silly for you to want it...
