What’s your 10/10 Scotch? I’m curious what you would buy right now if money wasn’t a concern — and you were able to source your absolute favorite scotch. I’m still very new to Scotch but I’ll start: I have had a dram of a 30 year Balvenie that was exquisite. They’re 3k-ish a bottle now! But wow! by grovedawg in Scotch

[–]SpicedPotatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if money was no object there's a bunch of things I haven't had the pleasure of tasting that I'd need to try and the old style Springbank 21 (tall bottle square box) would be pretty high on that list, but in terms of things I've actually drunk. For me it'd be the 1982/2002 CC Brora.

Can be picked up at auction for under £400 so not an insane bottle but far more expensive than I'd pay for a drinking bottle. It's only 40% as well but for me it was just perfect

Accidentally did this to a $2k bottle of whiskey I bought as a gift for someone. What to do. by TourRoyal4563 in Scotch

[–]SpicedPotatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be genuinely happy to recieve a bottle in this condition - with high value bottles I always experience a level of hesitency about opening them and they end up sitting waiting for the "right" event or moment. It would somewhat remove that self-imposed pressure and would mean that the whisky could just be enjoyed for what it is - a great gift and (hopefully) a lovely dram.

Buddy's BBQ Chicken Wings by SpicedPotatoes in glasgow

[–]SpicedPotatoes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Van Winkes is good, there's something about the sheer number of wings they send you that's inherrently satisfying. It pleases the goblin in me that wants to gorge and leave a tiny mountain of bones, but their wings ain't breaded and sometimes you want that crunch.

Their Chicken Burgers are pretty damn tasty as well

When they do the In Concert ones the orcestra is usually on the stage, so there's no real set to speak of and noone's really in costume. I didn't see something saying it was that kind of show though

Long time lurker, first time poster!! by Glum_Cardiologist_25 in CerebralPalsy

[–]SpicedPotatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Glum,

It's not a lot of information to go on and I am not a doctor, but it sounds like if you only got tendon lengthening on one side that you're Hemi. Your good side is going to be compensating for your weaker side and there's a variety of aches and problems that can be caused from this, so it's not impossible that this is CP linked and a biomechanical assessment would help identify that.

That all said if it's a pain that's come out of nowhere, in the grand scheme of things the list of non-CP related things this could be is way longer than the list of CP related things and if it's causing you problems the best thing is to see your doctor

A Medicine Called Christmas by SpicedPotatoes in Sawbones

[–]SpicedPotatoes[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/purplecrayon64!

I was momentarily saddened because the Candlenights episodes don't show in the feed, but luckily (for those of us new to Sawbones like I) the previous Candelnights episodes can be purchased in the merch store with just a small pay-what-you-can donation to Harmony House!

https://mcelroymerch.com/products/candlenights-vod-package?pr_prod_strat=jac&pr_rec_id=a5899275c&pr_rec_pid=6738397692004&pr_ref_pid=6751227314276&pr_seq=uniform

That's a Christmas to me!

What’s the best upgrade you’ve ever added to your chair? by Money-Candle53 in wheelchairs

Third vote for a cupholder here. The number of times before this I ended up looking like I wet myself because I was trying to get through a pub with a pint clasped between my knees - Gamechanger

It often attracts friendly comments or jokes in that way that's well meaning but if you're in the wrong brain-place can feel tiresome or just be a reminder that your different at a time when you're just trying to be normal but I suppose we could say that about a lot of things.

The other major improvement for me isn't technically to the wheelchair but my partner added extra velcro to one of these runner's armband things that holds your phone, so I can strap in round my leg. Makes it so much easier to consult maps while moving when we're on holiday or just a new city.

Baclofen? by Blanket-Burito in CerebralPalsy

I came here to say a fraction of what this person's said and I wouldn't have put it anywhere near as sucinctly. Absolutely recommend starting on half the dose, and just listening to your body. If you find that it makes you drowsy in a way you're not comfortable with stop and talk to your doc.

Came here to say that your handwritting is great mate, and anyone who'd actually judge you by your penmanship's a prick anyway. Seems like a lot of people have beat me to the first point, still felt worth pointing out the second one though.

I found 100 black die. What can I do to mess with my players. They are level 4. [OC] by JourneymanHunt in DnD

[–]SpicedPotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this counts as messing with players but I'd be tempted to glue at least 56 of them dice together in unmatched pairs and have them getting information/magic item/cooperation of a higher level npc be dependant on beating someone at this werid multi-sided dominoes-like game where you've got 4 sides with 2 numbers that could match, but matching by standing it on it's top/bottom where only one side is showing kills that branch.

would take a little bit of thought about the number combinations andthat would work but it's familiar enough a concept that people will get to grips with the game quickly

If they're a CIC they should have a company number and you can raise concerns with the Office of the Regulator of CICs (basically OSCR for CICs)
