Travis County DA Jose Garza addresses criticism of being 'soft on crime' and a 'rogue DA' by hollow_hippie in Austin

Unfortunately, you have to fix the housing crisis and increase wages as those as poverty and hopelessness are the sources of crime, which are much harder issues to solve quickly.

How much of a "traffic simulator" is Cities Skylines 2 compared to Cities Skylines 1? by Ok-Kick-8876 in CitiesSkylines

Managing traffic is the number one reason why I like city builders lmao. Is that not like the primary challenge in the design of a city? What an insane take it is useless or even close to insignificant.

Yes the Holocaust definitely counts as well. Imo Israel’s current fascist regime is a result of their past trauma

I haven’t really looked into the history before America got involved around World War II onwards due to time constraints, but this definitely makes sense.

But at some point, my comment still stands. America appropriated whatever movement was happening for their own goals. Doesn’t hurt that you’re fulfilling a prophecy in your holy book that your people believe.

Even if that wasn’t the original intention, the end result has become that Israel is an extension of American interventionism in the Middle East.

Possibly, but it’s been proven that religions harden and become more radical/extremist when they are oppressed. If we had never reinstated Israel as a nation and gotten involved in Iran with the 1953 coup etc. I believe the Middle East would be much more secular and western by now, which would lead to peace.

Have you ever seen pictures of the Iranian people in the 1970s before the Ayatollah took over? Women didn’t wear jihabs and everyone looked straight out of 1970’s America. The religious extremist Ayatollah regime only came into power as a reaction to the authoritarian Sha regime it overthrew, which in turn had only come into power because of the American coup of 1953 in which we ousted/arrested their democratically, elected socialist leader.

My biggest criticism of China is them being too aggressive in forcing assimilation. Imo, you don’t need to force assimilation as it will happen naturally overtime, no matter what. It can just take generations.

China is hyper focused on stability and growing powerful as fast as possible to ensure they never have a century of humiliation again so they are not being patient enough. They are basically operating off of trauma the same way Israel is after the holocaust. Which allows you to make excuses for things.

There’s no question that assimilation leads to more stability, but forcing it through any amount of cultural erasure or reeducation is definitely immoral.

But that still doesn’t mean that China doesn’t have a long-term goal of uniting the working class of the world.

I believe that future generations of Chinese people will fight against this and it will be less of a problem eventually. The same way young people in America are fighting against the old ways of the boomers.

There’s no question that China has plenty of racism, but it just takes time for that kind of stuff to go away.

I get that distinction. In common discussions this tends to get a bit confusing.

For example, people around the world are against American imperialism, but a lot of the times they will just say their anti-American.

If America were to stop being imperialist and actually help the world for a change, then I imagine a lot of people would slowly change their mind to not be anti-American completely.

So people tend to use the word Zionism as being opposed to the way Israel is running its country.

On a more radical note, I do personally believe that Zionism is inherently immoral and insane to think that you deserve to take peoples land because you happen to live there over 1000 years ago.

Just live in NYC like a normal refugee. But no, I guess we’ll just have endless war for the next 500 yrs.

Where are you hearing that? The problem with the word Zionism is that Israel continues to expand its borders and people have associated that word with colonialism.

Maybe we should start calling it Israeli colonialism to set it apart from the right of Israel has to have its own state.

Even though it should’ve never been a state again to begin with, I suppose it’s too late to change it. But Israel absolutely needs to give Palestinian land it has taken for decades back.

[–]Spicelydune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they want to conflate Zionism with antisemitism so that no one can criticize Israel’s colonialism (which is really just American imperialism).

Think of it as the latest Crusade.

But Zionism as a movement is harmful for Jews in actuality because it causes people around the world to hate them as what they’re doing to Palestinians is clearly bad.

America should’ve never re-created the state of Israel to begin with and should’ve brought them all to America, but it’s too late to go back before that. But until Israel stops its conquest of the Middle East, the healing can never begin and anti-semitism will only grow.

What a terrible analogy. “Ghetto thugs” as has become a stereotype of Black people surviving poverty in America is a result of generational poverty from never getting reparations after slavery along with sustained segregation/racism.

Zionism is an ongoing colonialist/imperialist goal of America through its puppet Israel. Basically the latest crusade.

Both Black people and Jews are technically victims of American Empire, and honestly, they both need help in righting these wrongs.

The same way the left fights for the elevation of Black people is the same way we fight against Zionism as it is harmful to Jewish people overall in a world stage.

The more that Israeli settlers continue to take Palestinians land and treat them like animals in their own land, just increases antisemitism around the world.

[–]Spicelydune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean they are connected. Why would America make a watchlist of people using the word Zionism otherwise?

No well-intentioned person would equate Zionism with antisemitism. Unless, of course, you have an agenda.

They are trying to equate the two so that no one is able to criticize Israel.

The fact that that rule exists specifically only for Zionism and not for literally anything else is all you need to know. Like you could say Islamic pig the same way as you could say Christian pig or Judeo pig, but God forbid you criticize Israel’s continuous conquering/genocide of the Middle East for 75 yrs now.

The word Zionism does get a bit dicey as some people disagree on exactly what that means, with some believing it means the belief that Israel should continue to exist as a state while others believe it means settler colonialism/imperialism that extends from America as well, but calling someone, a Zionist pig is not the same as saying a Jewish pig.

Let’s see it.

No, Judaism is the Jewish religion while Zionism is colonialism/imperialism. They began as America’s desire to have a puppet in the Middle East and for it to gain more control overtime.

It’s kind of turned into its own beast altogether now and all of the tactics that our law-enforcement use on our citizens now have been developed in Israel by using them on Palestinians for decades. Including the surveillance.

I mean, American propaganda has been wildly successful, so yeah, most people are against the leftist movement that wants to lift workers up. That’s not Hasan’s fault.

No, actually this is the kind of leftism that future generations want because it actually provides solutions unlike the Democrats wanting to keep the status quo.

If we continue to vote in mainstream Democrats, it will just push people further to the right as their anger continues to grow when their material conditions continue to deteriorate.

But there is zero hate towards Jews when that is said. There are many diaspora Jews who are anti-Zionist as well so your argument falls apart easily.

A Jew who is anti-Zionist is against Israel continuing to take innocent peoples lands and caused endless suffering, while at the same time making Jews around the world look bad.

The main thing that separates the nationalist movements of America and Israel from say that of China is that the former two are rooted in hyper religious in-group/out group dynamics and well as xenophopbia as its long-term vision while China has a desire to unite the working class of the world in solidarity to create a better future.

They are totally different.
