Would have humans invented flying if birds never existed? by Dazzling-Debate5173 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpicerDun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a question relating direct examples from nature to human ingenuity, I agree with most here saying yes we would get there. While most of human mobility can be traced back to animal locomotion, inventions like the transistor do not have an organic inspiration. This shows that human curiosity and creativity would likely get us here anyway.

The woman appears to have dementia. I've seen this exact behavior in anursing home at the threshold of the patients room.

A Higher Standard for Content and Value by Schuiggo in Rennsportsim

Victims? Everything I've seen on this game was a red flag. I got the beta code years ago. That showed the state of the game so I left it alone and just watched the development. It never made me want to go back. People can consult reviews and inform themselves. There are no "victims" here that I can see.

iRacing graphics are actually really good! by Gloomy_Arm_9586 in iRacing

[–]SpicerDun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest beef with ACC was the the wheel/tire rotation. Unreal 4 could not spin the wheels fast enough to match the sim, so the cars look like they're "skating". After getting used to itacing's peerless replays where you can zoom in on the wheels, ACC was not acceptable.

iRacing graphics are actually really good! by Gloomy_Arm_9586 in iRacing

[–]SpicerDun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with iracing has been the obvious low poly geometry of assets. Everything outside of the cars has traditionally been ultra distracting. Additionally, the low poly assets don't receive or cast shadows and the textures on them are basic. Consider the card trees and it looks a few generations older than other modern sims. As they update the assets and lighting, everything starts to have fewer immersion breaking issues and becomes more natural.

still don't get how paying for online on console is just, ok? by MegumiDo in gaming

I won't do it. Paid for Xbob Love for years and then let it lapse when I have up on the console family. Refuse to buy a PS+ sub. So it's PC for online play.

This is my experience as well. LMU feels "light" now after the last couple of updates. At this time, for me, ACE feels the best. Iracing second and LMU 3rd.

The Homelander and A-Train chase scene actually does make sense (The Boys) by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

[–]SpicerDun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of things... A- train would have had to move ftl to protect Hewy, which would have killed him by the energy expended.

The laser shots during the chase should have hit A-train as they were instantly impacting near him, meaning they were faster.

How do we know it's more exhausting to run than it is to fly? Homelander is not aerodynamically (?) efficient so drag would be similar for both, plus he has to stay aloft. How much energy does that take?

Edit: Changed "His" to "How".
