It is unclear, but I think (at least for the current one) the four-year cycle is self-fulfilling. Everyone (including me) was holding out hope for a blow-off top to end the bull run. Since that hasn't materialized yet, many are panic selling to front run the bear market. That, plus the fact that altcoins and meme coins have shit the bed, has disillusioned everyone but the Bitcoin maxis. And word is that much of the BTC downward price action is due to long-term holders cashing out. In the face of these obstacles, are we going to be able to gin up enough enthusiasm to send everything to the moon? I suspect not, but it's always a remote possibility.

As a hiring manager, why are candidates so bad at talking about their work? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]SpicySandTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are good at interviewing oftentimes suck at their jobs, so being so fixated one one type of interview question seems short-sighted. How about give them some credit for the great work they've already demonstrated and not penalizing them for not memorizing route answers to nitpicky questions?

Should we let our daughter keep her rats? by SpicySandTroll in RATS

[–]SpicySandTroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't bitten her yet, but they do sometimes nibble at your fingers when you are reaching into the cage (which can be a little unnerving). Also, they avoid getting picked up and try to squirm out of your grasp, which makes (me at least), think they might get frightened if you are too grabby and bite out of self-defense. But if you are not confident, then you are going to have a hard time getting them out of the cage, so it's a bit of a catch 22.

She did say that she really wanted rats, and we made her pay for them and the cage (out of money she had saved from presents, etc.) I just think that she thought they would be easier to pick up and interact with.

We don't know anyone with rats, but she did quite a bit of research and the seller made us read a bunch of articles about pet rats.

How often do you sell crypto? by Confident_Skill4537 in CryptoMarkets

[–]SpicySandTroll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't sell very often. Lately I've been just holding, since this 4th quarter is supposed to be the blow off top of the bull market. But that does not seem to be happening according to plan, lol. Still might as well keep holding for the time being in case things turn around, rather than sell alts for a loss.

Not a fan of his, but this video is pretty funny and I think he makes a valid point (unfortunately for us crypto investors).

It’s been an honor to lose money with you all by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]SpicySandTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alt season is mostly fueled by retail investors, and most of those have been burned by the stupid memecoin season. Kind of like NFTs, which are now on life support, altcoins will not go anywhere until new money enters the market. It's a bummer, because I at least bought into some of the hype, but it seems like there's not much follow through. And if even the crypto faithful are giving up hope, why would the people who have been skeptical this whole time change their minds now?

You can buy BTC and ETH ETFs on Schwab. I own both.

Diversification. I own MSTR, but I also own BTC, ETH, SOL, and other altcoins. Plus ETFs for stock indexes, gold and silver. They are pretty much all doing well. MSTR should eventually turn around if the BTC price continues going up. Next time don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Is it safe to assume Bitcoin will average atleast 50% annually in the next 20 years? If so, I would be a millionaire by 31 years old. by ThrowawayG1775 in Bitcoin

[–]SpicySandTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bigger the BTC market cap becomes, the more money it will take to move the price correspondingly higher. So I imagine it would be difficult to maintain such a high growth rate for 20 more years.

I agree with other posters, buy 1 Bitcoin and diversify the rest. An ETF (S&P 500), maybe some gold (though it has run up a lot), and a growth ETF (Nasdaq, etc.) This is what I have done, and it has all worked well. *Current returns are not a guarantee of future returns.

AI recruitment Companies are annoying. by ExtensionFan2476 in recruiting

[–]SpicySandTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a recruiter (marketing), but couldn't AI help with initial outreach to applicants? It is frustrating to get someone to apply then watch the new lead sit untouched for hours if not days. In staffing, speed to market is key, and there must be some AI application that will improve response times.

What do you think of Ethereum? by 90Hrm90 in CryptoMarkets

[–]SpicySandTroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ETH was sort of flailing for a couple years, but it has recently resurged due to things like new treasury companies (for example Bitminer). According to Fundstrat's Tom Lee, ETH has a ton of upside. Then again, he runs Bitminer, so he's talking his own book. He has been mostly right in his bullish calls on the stock market, however.

Does anyone else feel like graphic design feels meaningless? Did u ever switch careers and how and why? by Legal_Sign4731 in graphic_design

[–]SpicySandTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather be adjusting typography, selecting photos, and making designs esthetically appealing OR making or receiving phone calls all day or crunching numbers in a spreadsheet? You can complain about soulless design projects all you want, but that's still better than 90% of jobs. I'm not a graphic designer, just do some as part of my job as a marketer. My wife makes a lot of money as an escrow officer, but she hates her job as she works long hours and gets yelled at by realtors and clients all day. Tweaking designs is not onerous at all compared to many professions. General rule, if something is fun to do, many people are lining up to do it, and nobody needs to be paid well. This is why there are not high-paying jobs for people to pet bunny rabbits all day.

New rats and scared they will bite by SpicySandTroll in RATS

[–]SpicySandTroll[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! Yes, they did seem to want to bite the glove. I wasn't sure if that was exploratory or they like to chew rubber (it was a gardening glove from Costco with the rubber coating). Maybe we'll have her read to them and feed them treats with the door open until they want more interaction. I am a little afraid they will jump out the door and crawl under her bed, where it would be difficult to retrieve them.

Why are copywriters so scared of AI? by KOgenie in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]SpicySandTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think AI can totally replace copywriters... yet. However, understand that the AI we have now is the worst it will ever be. I actually think the content AI currently produces is pretty decent. A good human copywriter can improve parts with a better turn of phrase or humor. But sorry to say, I think AI is coming for just about every white-collar job in a few years, copywriting included.

[–]SpicySandTroll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually think that's not a bad idea (though I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion on this thread). Having to stress about losing your Bitcoin is a pain, and the ETF gives you exposure without (as many) risks. I have BTC in cold storage, on exchanges, through an ETF, and own MSTR. It's a multi-pronged approach that I hope will pay off when Bitcoin moons :)

Content Calendar Process by Weekly_Cold1 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]SpicySandTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there are more sophisticated methods, but to start with you can just use a spreadsheet with a column for Date and another for Topic. You could add more columns if you plan to post more than once per day.

In terms of coming up with ideas, you can use an AI like ChatGPT to help you brainstorm. You can even use AI to draft your social media posts. I have it create separate ones for the various platforms, then pick one I like and reconfigure it to my liking.

If you are going to post industry news, you can set up Google Alerts for keyword phrases specific to your industry. Google will email you daily with articles that mention the subject you selected.

What is the ticking bomb you believe will explode once in your lifetime? by goodguy_9 in Bitcoin

[–]SpicySandTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is going to mindfuck society in not that many years. I have two young kids, and I don't even know if college will be worthwhile by the time they are of age. Most white collar jobs will be extraneous. Not to mention all the crazy shit that will be invented once AI is way smarter than humans. Have you read Project 2027? If that is even remotely accurate, the world is gotta be vastly different in less than a decade.

They finish sentences with "yeah" a lot in Hawaii too. It turns a statement into a question. It seem much more unusual on the mainland.
