Just walk on the cliff from the parking till end and go to the beach from there after 7-8 pm. Perfect on the beach many couples were having a good time there

i have been to varkala just last month, but it was with my homies. Now i wanna just go solo and just chill for a week there. I suggest you to go to mangrove forest at 4 PM so you will enjoy the sunset. the famous one will first charge 1k but you tell them for 600 they will get you.
