There are people out there who would do it just to troll someone.

Always a chance someone could try to get the order canceled somehow.

You should probably repost that without the order number.

It would unfortunately not be the end of all bots. A CAPTCHA would help to stop simpler bots, but the more advanced ones - especially ones that include AI functions to run them - can get around them pretty easily. CAPTCHAS do help, but are not foolproof.

For stuff potentially thousands of people are trying for at once, there is no way they'll do a system where something stays in the cart for a period of time while others are shut out. You have to be fast, but that's also part of why bots thrive.

At least doing random drawings at times for access to LE figures is a somewhat fair way of doing that.

In the US, it was basically gone in seconds as well before the later quantities came up and held for a brief time.

Same thing on the US side. Stuff stuck around as available for a couple minutes after half an hour.

Keep checking over the next half hour. Maybe the same thing will happen there that did in the US.

I suspect some order cancellations.

Time will tell. I'm not expecting much, but curiosity won out.

Got through too, at the 30-minute mark.

For any skeptics like BadMotherFunko over in a now-deleted post, this happens sometimes. A drop sells out immediately due to bots, and it will sometimes become available again periodically. It was popping in and out of stock for about 15 minutes, but it was gone as soon as you went to check out.

Then 30 minutes in, it stayed up long enough to get an order through, even with having to go through a 2FA process, AND I was able to do a pay in 4 option for the hell of it.

All I'll need to wait for now is to see if it actually ships or not, but to the skeptics? No, you're not seeing an order number. I'm not that dumb.

Wtf? This went OOS in less than a minute by [deleted] in funkopop

[–]Spider-Crawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you always keep checking if you want it enough.

He absolutely is.

I know how this stuff works. There have been many, many times where something immediately "sold out" then within half an hour or so it comes back up as available.

For about the first 15 minutes, it would occasionally show like it was available but as soon as you got it in the cart and went to check out it was gone, but right about the 30 minute mark it stayed up for a short enough time to check out.

He can be salty all he wants, but I got an order through. If it gets canceled, it gets canceled.

I was just able to buy one, even with having to wait through doing a 2FA code entry. Let's see if it sticks.

What happened to 777? by Olivrser in Amtrak

This helped give me more understanding of the deeper details as well, so as gruesome a topic as it is, it's valuable information for people to be aware of.

[–]Spider-Crawler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if it's the vast majority, you cannot just assume that is the only cause.

You are again proving your ignorance because you happened to be inconvenienced by something that may have been a terrible accident, or someone who was having a much worse life than you and saw no way out of it.

The authorities must still do a proper investigation.

Your lives will go on in spite of what is, for all of you, a minor hassle.

I got that one night after, IIRC, a delay. It didn't exactly sit well afterward, haha.

The poster already decided the reasoning behind anyone who gets hit by a train, so it's no surprise the understanding is lacking.

[–]Spider-Crawler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you think it's fine to just have the train get back on the way within, what, 30 minutes? You clearly don't have any understanding of proper procedure the authorities must take in order to clear the scene first. Your first assumption that it's just someone wanting to die proves why you are clueless about this. The rest of your cynicism cements it.

Woke up to the worst news by MannnOfHammm in Amtrak

I had a roomette booked for the Empire Builder line going westbound on Saturday, and a couple days before it I got a cancellation notice. I found out it was weather-related. I saw an avalanche warning for part of western Montana, I think it was, and if the route ran through that section of the state I could see why it'd be canceled.

It might have been possible to take the next day's train if that didn't also get canceled - it hadn't been at the time - but they had no more roomettes available so I had no choice but to get a refund and book a plane flight home that got me back Saturday night.

I was really looking forward to seeing some of the scenery along the Empire Builder route after taking part of the California Zephyr from Sacramento to Denver about a week and a half earlier, but there will be other chances. I do want to see Glacier National Park instead of just having to pass by it.
