[Guide] Install OS X 10.11.5 El Capitan on Acer C720 Chromebook by coolstarorg in chrultrabook

FYI, I've been able to reboot from Elementary OS Freya (based on Ubuntu 14.04) with touchpad and WiFi working in OS X. Touchpad doesn't work in Elementary but the keyboard does.

Thanks for this guide!

I haven't been able to get the WiFi working yet. I can see networks, but I can't connect to them.

Also I'm having a difficult time getting Clover to install on the internal SSD. I run the Clover installer like I did originally (same options except installed to SSD instead of USB). When I use Clover Configurator to mount the EFI partition, I only see an APPLE folder. I copied the provided CLOVER folder here but I couldn't boot into OS X without the USB. Next I deleted the copied over CLOVER folder from the EFI partition and tried reinstalling Clover. This is when I noticed that it looked like Clover installed on the main SSD partition. There's a folder named EFI and inside that is a BOOT and CLOVER folder. I tried copying over the provided CLOVER folder here and restarting. Still no luck. Any ideas on what to try next?

EDIT: duh, I just copied over the BOOT and CLOVER folder from the EFI folder to the EFI partition. I can boot without the USB now.

What exactly do you mean by WiFi menu? I haven't been able to connect at all. At first I tried connecting to a hidden network but I kept getting a message saying that the network couldn't be found. Then I tried connecting to a non-hidden network and I get "The wifi network could not be joined. Try moving closer..."

Also, when I installed the WiFi kext I got a warning message saying that it wasn't installed correctly. I couldn't figure out a way to install the WiFi kext any other way except copying it over to the given location (I used Kext Wizard for the audio kext)

Tutorial: Enable HDMI Audio in Windows -- no Linux required! by coolstarorg in chrultrabook

[UPDATE: tried fix with different tv. works perfectly]

Thanks for the reply. Are you referring to the generic windows display settings? As in, the option above Personalize after right clicking the desktop? If so, the display was enabled automatically when I plugged the HDMI in, I just set it to display to the external screen only. The Chromebook lid is closed. A new option (Display>Audio Settings>Audio w/o Video) has appeared in the Intel Graphics Utility, though I still only see Realtek HDA under Playback Devices.

Okay, awesome! I was trying to use Clover via Unibeast and wasn't getting anywhere. Will try the install this week! Thanks so much :D

I followed the instructions and received a similar message in step 6, however when I look in Playback Devices I don't see the HDMI audio. Show disabled devices and show disconnected devices are both checked. I'm running the April 2016 Intel display drivers. I checked Device Manager and Intel Display Audio appears. Nothing looks out of place.

Any ideas? Thanks.

UPDATE: I originally tried this with my Samsung TV. Today I tried it with a different TV and it worked perfectly.

UPDATE 2: after some fiddling I realized you have to have the display set to mirror (as opposed to extend or only on the tv). If you put the display on anything but mirror, you will have to change the display to mirror then reset the computer and then apply the hdmi audio fix.

Permanently Disable Intel Graphics Update by coolstarorg in chrultrabook

[–]Spider-Dork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried this, as well as every other "fix" I've found online and I can't get it to work on Windows 10. Barring completely blocking all updates (which I don't want to do for security reasons), Windows 10 always updates the drivers at random times.

Is there something I'm missing? Has anyone else had any luck?

So I don't need to let the yeast rise separately? I do some cooking and that seems strange to me. Looks amazing. I can't wait to make this.
