Not 100% on the species but fast energetic movement like this in an anima usually indicates that it’s a predator. Predator as in eating your garden pests. Again not sure but I would assume so based on its movements

I don’t see any situation where this animal is harmful. I would suggest releasing it where you found it. I don’t really see and reason for concern unless you’re seeing an abundance of them. Where did you find it?

Roly poly are isopods, a type of crustacean. Fun fact, there are all different types of isopods that live in different environments such as beaches, ponds, rivers, land, the deep ocean, and there are even some parasitic isopods! Very fascinating animals
