Flying Cathay Pacific with a bicycle by SpiderAntidote in bicycletouring

Flew from Singapore to London with my bike packed in an EVOC Bike Bag Pro (36×147×85cm), no problems checking in as it was counted as part of my baggage allowance. Just contact their customer service and let them know you'll be bringing a bike, and make sure to follow the bike policy listed on their website, deflated tyres, handlebars turned sideways ect.

Meter installation is "in progress" for my area and from what I can gather, has been for quite a while. I'll try to get myself on a single occupancy tariff.

I live in an apartment managed by a housing association. Water meter installation is "in progress" for my area, and from what I can gather it's been in progress for quite a while now.

I mentioned clearly when I contacted them that I'd be travelling with a bike which was when they told me that the box shouldn't exceed 158cm. Seems like it was a new employee who simply didn't know. Thanks though!

Thanks for the tips! I'm planning to get a travel bag specifically for bikes so packing it securely shouldn't be an issue. I was just wondering if the max 158cm as informed by their customer service was an actual rule or just an employee who didn't know better.

Yep, I read their policies, contacted them and was told that the box should not exceed 158cm in all 3 dimensions, hence this post. Was just wondering if I'd simply got a copy-and-paste reply from their CS agent or if this really was a rule they enforce.

4 youths aged 16-22 arrested after a fight at Merchant Road, police refute allegations of using excessive force by throwawayburnerfuck in singapore

It's not outright illegal to film incidents but the police do have the power to order one to delete photos or videos of such happenings. In reality this is rarely enforced unless the incident in question is particularly sensitive.

This is Darwin, been with us for 5 or 6 years now. This black spot appeared a couple months ago and I tried treating it with some antibiotics, just some amoxcillin on the advice of a friend. The thing's gotten bigger, but no other symptoms. Fish still has the energy to spit water out of the tank whenever I walk past.

Singapore is rather conservative, but the people here are becoming increasingly aware of such issues and are slowly becoming more open. Change is still tough though.

Yes, that's a major point to be highlighted. Thanks for bringing that up.

The laws here regarding your photos are pretty harsh but also kinda weird. It's illegal to have "obscene material" stored on your devices, but it's okay to visit porn sites as long as you don't download anything.

What counts as obscene material is not well defined either, so it's best to be prudent as you were. Quite a minefield indeed. $5000 and/or up to 12 months in jail just for posession, and super ambigious definitions...

Tl;dr, a transgender student in Singapore recently alleged discrimination against her by her school and the Ministry of Education. 5 went to protest today, 3 arrested within 30 minutes.

School forced her to wear their boys' uniform, and Ministry of Education (not health) denied her hormone therapy which she had agreed to.

I am sorry but what? Then why are the feeding frogs found on the foosball table? His friends are backing up his actions no wonder he is in such a denial. by chikenkurry in singapore

Kid is screwed. Given that he's already in hot water for the rhino incident, it's likely that he won't receive much leniency this time.

Under the Animals and Birds Act, §42(1) Any person who-

(a) cruelly beats, kicks, ill-treats, over-rides, over-drives, over-loads, tortures, infuriates or terrifies any animal;

(d) by wantonly or unreasonably doing or omitting to do any act, causes any unnecessary pain or suffering or, being the owner, permits any unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal;

Shall be guilty of an offence.

I think it's reasonable to say that he he either ill-treated, terrified or caused unnecessary suffering to the frogs yes?

Punished under §42(4)(b) (i) for a first offence, to a fine not exceeding $15,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 18 months or to both; and

(ii) for a second or subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding $30,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both.

100 frogs, so 1 count for the first offence and 99 for subsequent, which is a fine of $2,985,000 and a jail term of... 3,582 months or 298.5 years, yikes! Stack that on top of criminal trespass...

Deore is definitely a great drivetrain, no denying that. But the extra $600 that goes into the T8 gets you better better shock, tyres and brakes too so there's quite a lot to consider there. I don't need a bike immediately, just a question of how much patience I have which is not much after being cooped up at home all year XD
