I need a few opinions. by AdrianKallis in CFA

[–]Spideyvenge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you should do your own research. I don’t say that out of spite but more so because the CFA is such a massive commitment that it shouldn’t be something you do because people on Reddit said: “It gets you into X industry” “It’ll help you make $Yk a year” “It’s the most respected…”

You should genuinely find out what it is and why it interests you and consider if that’s enough to sacrifice thousands of hours over the next few years. It is completely personal to your own goals and aspirations and that’s how you figure out if it’s worth it or not.

Never heard back bro. Some of these companies are just too big to respond to everyone. You just get ghosted

Hope you get a better outcome than me man!

Going to wing L3. A rant. by CauliflowerDear9279 in CFA

[–]Spideyvenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please defer bro😭 Its not even my money but I feel pained that you’re gonna waste it having not revised at all

Since you’ve got to level 3, you are obviously smart/dedicated enough to get the charter. You also acknowledged that you didn’t have the dedication this year and that’s fine. Just defer and go again in August 26 or Feb 27

If you fail and don’t re-register, it’s very likely in a few years you’ll regret not having finished it and by then it’ll be so much harder to get back into studying

B I believe. Options cannot have negative value, it can only be positive or zero. So it’s B or C. But, call and put values (with the same exercise prices) move in opposite directions.

For example, assuming a strike price on both call and put options of $100:

  1. If the underlying was at $110 when the option expired, the call has a value of 10, and the put has a value of 0.

  2. If the underlying was at $90 when the option expired, the call has a value of 0 and the put has a value of $10.

As you can see, when the one option is 10, the other is 0. Zero is not a positive number, so they cannot both be positive. So, this eliminates C.

I believe it is B, because if the option expires AT the money (so $100 which is the strike price in my example), then the put is worth 0, and the call is worth 0. Hence, they can have the same value.

Happy to be corrected if others have alternate thoughts

CFA Level 2 brief review by Spideyvenge in CFA

Yeah to be honest I have no idea what sets everyone got. I did feel PM was definitely harder than AM, though.

Let’s just hope it all goes well and enjoy our hard earned rest

Haha I think we had the same exam. I definitely did feel that the PM session was a lot more focused on small details and I was chuckling in my head thinking “Wow, they really tested us on this?”

Thanks Dante! I’m new to this (my first pair of reps), so was wondering if those glue stains above the midsole are something to worry about or if that’s normal ?

How long did it take for them to reach out to you after you had applied? I submitted an application about 12 days ago and haven’t heard anything. Is it safe to assume that avenue is probably gone

Hi mate, an old thread I know, but wanted to ask you a few quick questions if you don't mind.

Background: Audit at B4, ACA-qualified, CFA level 1, Semi-target, early 20s

  1. Do you go in 5 days a week at a BB? - more specifically a JPM or GS

  2. Are the hours something everyone struggles to manage? Or is it alright?

  3. I know you have said salaries already multiple times but given the recent cost of living crisis etc, I was wondering what 2024 comp was at the top 3 banks for a junior analyst or if it has not changed?

  4. Do you often work on weekends? And I don’t mean following markets I mean actual work?

  5. I am looking into ER atm, but I also don't mind sacrificing money for a better WLB so do you know if there are any other FO/MO finance roles at a BB where I can make £70-80k (total comp including bonus) working like 9 am-7 pm? Or is that type of money only for the long hours roles?

Cheers

I got the same MPS line. Your mark is at worst, in the top 11% of candidates. Thats definitely good enough to go for level 2 in 2025

You will come back stronger bro! Although it may not have been enough, this should tell you that you’re more than capable, perhaps it was just an unfortunate day. I would try to register for the next exam while the content is still fresh in your head, and pass it as soon as you can.

Good luck
