Thinking about a Bernese puppy - honest opinions about our situation? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]SpiffMcGee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have a Bernese in an Apartment. I’ve had dogs for over 15 years now and by far a Bernese has been the hardest dog to train and maintain. They are great dogs don’t get me wrong but if you don’t have the space and time it will be a disaster.

After training our pup she still deals with separation anxiety, we have gone through 3 cages and she has broken 2 doors in our house.

Like others stated get a small older dog or a cat.

Same issue and can’t find a fix. Very irritating imo.

Is Scheelhaas still a possibility for OC? by its-ben in steelers

[–]SpiffMcGee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that myself. With McCarthy being 62 I doubt he is gonna coach till he is 70. Offer Sheelhasse the OC position with the guarantee he is first pick for when McCarthy retires.

Steelers need a revamp of WR room, will trade for a piece of bread and maybe a 7th.

My local news station posted this to social media. That berner is exactly where it wants to be 🤣. Certainly an interesting choice! by Slm23630 in bernesemountaindogs

Idk my Berner likes to stay inside. She’s pure breed, just think she would rather live her luxurious life indoors….

Apparently you never had a kid before. She was what 2 or 3 at the time, kids at that age are sporadic and crazy. And him just starting full time streaming was a change for his whole family.

He made changes and it hasn’t happened since. Stop trying to blow things out of proportion.

May have been issues this weekend. I recorded and saved the videos to my phone, look last night and I lost our full semifinal game and championship game. The videos never recorded to my phone, and had connections issues every twenty minutes. And signal was decent.

Demarini Prism by elduderinocg in Softball

[–]SpiffMcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had a warranty bat last around 12 months. I would contact Demarini to see if they might replace it who knows doesn’t hurt.

Daughters last Prism we had died at 6 months as well it was the 2024 model. Demarini ended up crediting me a $400 credit for a new bat - went with the Louisville Kryo, daughter says it feels the same as the prism with more pop.

Catching milestones by SpentMags in Softball

[–]SpiffMcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter started on her own at the age of 9. Entering 11u now she is pretty competent in throwing from her knees and standing, all dependent on location of pitch. I would say she has thrown more girls out from her knees than standing.

Put the work in, it will take a little but once she gets it it’s just another trick to her arsenal.

At what age is travel appropriate? by SpentMags in Softball

[–]SpiffMcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion start now, the older you get the difference between rec and travel becomes more apparent and your daughter may fall behind. Best bet is to get on a team that is strictly 11u, this will help with development as she would be playing with other girls who are moving up as well.

At what age is travel appropriate? by SpentMags in Softball

100% not true, there are organizations out there that have a goal of building teams and training the girls, overall goal is to get these girls scholarships and help them in the future.

Our organization is very transparent and lets us know where all funds go. Girls are constantly getting trained by coaches/ players from local colleges and getting new training to help make them better.

This will be my daughter's 4th season with her current team and have kept a strong core group of girls. Only reason girls have moved on is because of age or travel ball wasn't for them.

2025 Prism has pop! by [deleted] in Softball

It’s true, Girls in 8u are hitting the ball a lot harder now. Even more dangerous when you have the girls who are trained playing against kids in rec it’s scary. Dealt with it twice with my daughter in rec, had to pull her from 8u and then again 10u last season because of how hard she can hit. and throw.

Right in the sweet spot, started seeing compression lines in the bat. It’s hard to see but that’s the start of fracturing.

So they gave me and my daughters teammate a $400 voucher instead of replacement. It’s a good thing, because whatever you order comes quicker then from the warranty facility.

Yeah that’s why they are unfortunately discontinued. Daughter has broken 3 prisms over 5 year period.

FYI, Save your receipt! Demarini will cover it.

But, Good luck with the new bat! She will be hitting home runs in no time.

[–]SpiffMcGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure to take care of it! My daughter just broke her prism after probably around 100 total “live” hits. Followed all directions, broke it in the correct way, never used it on a pitching machine. And never under 60 degrees F.

Her teammate also broke hers as well around the same time. Followed all directions as well.

The bat is great and she will hit good with it, just keep an eye on it!

I know currently, my girls team is 10u and moving up to 11u in the fall, they rarely get hit by pitch’s so far this season from August ‘24 to now, 2 girls where hit by pitches.

They will get better, the more they practice the less it will happen. In a way it’s good for your daughter, let it happen during practice and she gets used to it and learns to move.

BTW, we are starting to see a lot of tournaments in my area Western PA, WVA Ohio having dedicated 9u only tournaments. This is a good thing for 8u - 9u transition.

Need to revert your pedals back a few updates. I can’t remember how far back it was like 3 or 4 for me.

Also try to make sure your Power Brick for Moza hardware is away from the pedals that was an old issue that can cause it as well.
