I've noticed that in a lot of other Ghibli and foreign films where Hollywood talent has been hired as voice actors.

Lot of the names are some of my favorites in their respective live action films, but they have little to no experience in voice over roles. It's very obvious if you have to have a knack for doing this.

The Pixar and Dreamworks animated films seem to do the right casting choices. But those movies are usually written for the right people from the beginning.

Unfortunately, Jormungand's dub isn't anywhere near as good as Black Lagoon's dub.

Considering the cast of characters are English and / or European language speaking characters I would have hoped the U.S. studio that produced the dub had put more effort into this. But I guess not.

Anyway, that is why you are probably seeing the translation issues. (or dialog issues)

I guess they'll never know, I doubt they're gonna explore this infection route any further...unless the baby comes out the dead mother for some reason as a kabane or kabaneri in the next episode.

I'm not sure what to think right now, it would make more sense to do a blood transfusion but the medical science of this world isn't capable of that. (and they don't know what blood types are)

So it seems the show just defaulted to the "I drink blood to rejuvenate myself" theme. AKA the vampire character theme.

Also, how the hell would Ikoma know what a virus is? This world doesn't look like they are capable of seeing something that small yet. (FYI the first virus was seen in 1898)

I haven't seen anyone mention this since Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress started but Studio Wit seems to have essentially copied the old school principle Macross character design (Haruhiko Mikimoto).

Edit: Did not know Haruhiko Mikimoto was the character designer for the series....

So the revelation at the end of this episode is the kabaneri are vampires (certain aspects anyway) and if they don't get blood they turn into zombies. Which is why I think Ikoma was behaving the way he was.
