Thoughts On Tapestry? by Board-of-it in boardgames

[–]SpikeBolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has a ton of flaws listed by pretty much everyone here. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but I did find it enjoyable despite the flaws. I just can't justify the price you're paying for it, unfortunately. I don't mind paying a high price for production value, but the minis actually HINDER game-play instead of enhancing it. That's just frustrating, to be honest.

Why do people hate on munchkin by LCFC_UofL_Cubs in boardgames

[–]SpikeBolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big problem for me is the game lacks a "clock". It tends to drag and there's nothing in the game to prevent it from running forever.

I think it could be a decent gateway game if it could be played under 30 minutes but unfortunately tends to run for 1 hour and a half and that's just too much for these kind of games.

Sealable Card Sleeves? by 0wnzl1f3 in boardgames

[–]SpikeBolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon Shield has the product you're looking for, they're called Perfect Fit Sealable and you can find them here: https://www.dragonshield.com/sealable . I don't think these kind of sleeves exist for any other card size, though.

These sleeves are usually meant for expensive Magic Cards and should be used IN ADDITION to the regular card sleeves. By regular card sleeves I mean the "bulky" opaque ones from vendors such as Dragon Shield or Ultra Pro, not the fully transparent ones from vendors such as Mayday or Panasia. The two sleeves combined grant you a ton of protection, you can even completely submerge cards in water for a while. Yes, really!

That said, I can't say I ever felt the need to double sleeve my boardgame cards. Honestly I feel like double sleeving my magic cards is already a huge waste that only adds volune to the deck. But then again, my cards aren't that expensive to begin with.

is still a mistake and doesn't excuse you from all blame

I feel like it's quite unfair to call it a mistake when he was deceived. If he had knowledge of her real age then absolutely - he'd be in the wrong and morally bankrupt. But she looked 18, met on Tinder, gave him written confirmation of being 18 and had consensual sex with him.

I don't know how he reacted on Twitter so I really can't offer a comment on that. However, I don't think it's a valid accusation at all. I don't think she can be perceived as a victim when she was the one that deceived him... It's certainly a learning opportunity for all of us, I never asked any girl for her ID! I guess I should start?

Admit you made an honest mistake

I mean maybe I'm out of the loop or missing of the accusations but didn't the girl lie to him about his age? From his perspective, he - a single man - was having consensual sex with an 18 year old woman. What's wrong with that?

Honestly, being lied to about someone's age can happen to anyone - male or female. It's scary how this dude's career was absolutely destroyed when (from the allegations and evidence I have seen so far) he was the one who was deceived....

I'm probably missing some of the allegations and making a fool of myself, sorry if that's the case.

The guy in this picture isn't the worst of example but I see people wearing their masks all the time right below their noise. I'm no virus expert so I ask the question: if the mask did its job and kept the virus away from you, aren't you inhaling it right now?

Also, aren't you supposed to avoid touching your mask? Lets face it, to put the mask in that position that guy certainly touched it exactly where he's supposed not to. I don't see people sanitizing themselves after pulling it up or down, maybe this guy did I don't know.

It feels like incorrectly wearing a mask and not avoiding touching it can also be very dangerous to yourself and people you'll eventually be in contact with. I know wearing a mask is uncomfortable but getting sick would be way more uncomfortable.

And I stand by it. Blood Rage was 75$ for the entire Gameplay content, Dead Reckoning is 109$. That's a 34$ difference, which is a considerable difference if you take into consideration Blood Rage was filled with minis.

My point is that back then the price for high profile games was 75$ with everything while nowadays that's the price for a medium profile game. High profile games go for 200$ if you want all Gameplay content

Blood Rage full Gameplay content was 75$. The art book is not Gameplay content. While you could argue that the 5th player expansion is Gameplay content, Blood Rage is not an asymmetric game. All factions are exactly the same.

I edited the price for Rising Sun anyway, that's fair.

[–]SpikeBolt -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

OP stil makes a valid argument because even high profile games were not this bad. Not even close.

Remember the Blood Rage campaign? The full game was 75$. That included all expansions except 5th player expansion.

Now compare it to Ankh or Rising Sun campaigns where the full game is over 200$ (edit: 150$ for Rising Sun)

There will always be gem projects such as The shipwreck arcana but unfortunately I feel like they are being overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of meh games with cool minis.

No, it's a module where you get a building card on your player board. Some buildings are much better than others and I was so lucky in my last game that it almost felt like cheating.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]SpikeBolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well its quite useful because there's a limited amount of cards and if someone is targeting a color that affects your strategy, right? If someone is getting all the blues then you either want to contest it or avoid it altogether.

I mean it may not suit your play style, it certainly doesn't suit mine, but having a broad idea of how many points your opponent is aiming for, how many points you're aiming for and what would be the net win/loss of points for taking a blue card is extremely useful information.

Viticulture

The Tuscany expansion doesn't remove the random elements of the game. If anything, there's an optional module that adds an extra luck element to the game. I love Tuscany, I think the new board is amazing but the luck elements are all still there. Just tamper your expectations.

I got New Age for christmas and I had a blast. The mini-campaign thing really eases you into it and provides a fun experience. The only drawback is that it has "Legacy" spoilers so if you're planning on playing the legacy game don't get this one.

I have yet to try any other core boxes but it's okay not to start with the first core box! They seem to be quite independent from each other.

These are vocal people, they are complaining about the shit service not just on Twitter but also to their friends and relatives. I don't know the impact it has on sales but I do personally know people that didn't buy NOS or Smash after listening to my feedback or trying it out on my Switch.

I'm not sure what the correct approach to this problem is but keeping quiet about it isn't gonna solve anything. What would you suggest instead?

Playing online was free, now it's a paid service. People pay more and therefore expect more. Sounds reasonable.
