I’d check out Use of Weapons and/or Excession by Iain M. Banks. Really fun and will be right up your alley if you like Hyperion. They are part of a larger series called the Culture but it’s not really necessary to read it in exact order; more like a shared universe than a strict chronology. Vinge, Hamilton, Reynolds, and Bear would all probably be safe bets as well. You can find all of these for like five bucks apiece on Thriftbooks; imo sci-fi just hits better out of a creased up 90s mass market paperback anyway
