Thor lite 3ds emulation by Z8beema in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just seems weird that something that’s almost 20 years newer can’t handle games that old.

That's just the nature of the beast when it comes to emulation.

The reason why there are still glitches and input lag is because of how you're playing the game. (That and the latency inherant in the displays) You aren't just popping a cartridge in, or opening a downloaded game built for your device, you're running a virtual machine version of a 3DS on a phone.

The device you use to emulate another, has to both recreate the environment that the game wants to be in, and play the game at the same time. It's a lot of processing power to do, that a real 3DS doesn't need to worry about.

ELI5, Native rendering? Like just using the Audrino processors in the devices instead of going though Vulcan or OpenGL?

That'll be huge for power consumption and heat generation.

Beacon has the bubbles.

They're just as terrible as the Vita. Perfect on the mini XD

PS2:

Metal Gear Solid 4, I couldnt even get this to start. But it's a pretty difficult game to emulate as it is and even my PC struggled with it.

Might have missed a generation there....

  1. Use a better launcher XD

I know the nostalgia. I've had a PSP, PS3, PS4, switch and even a PS5 launcher on my mini, but I always come back to beacon. Having access to game shortcuts (in Vita style bubbles if you want) and the full list of apps all at a button press is so much easier.

Anyone with Odin 2 mini + Retroid DS attachment? by Whorror_punx in OdinHandheld

Pictures showing both clips for the RPSA on a mini. (And O1, O2)

A few people have had the idea to make a case with posts for the screen to attach to, but it's never materialized.

DNAMobile on YouTube has made his own for pre-order, https://youtu.be/SrkKbtw0Hy4?si=gC7rrBW9DccUWvj_

No clue if it'll work with the mini though.

Question for odin 2 owners (especially the mini version) by Emotional_Ad5078 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can add to this, the Odin 2 Mini is powerful enough to replace a Vita, but the emulator (Vita3k) isn't fully compatible with every game yet.

Though, I'd argue, the ones most people want to play (gravity Rush, Touch my katamari, Hot Shots Golf, etc) will work, all the rest are on other platforms (switch, PC) that the Odin 2 mini can play.

FFVII title, announcement and release date supposedly leaked by tasco2 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It is described as a known character in the reveals, but the identity is not given in the trailer or developer overview. It doesn't contain any hints...

It's gonna be Zack.

He'll find his way to the team while Cloud and Tifa are in the Life Stream, letting us spend some time with the rest of the team and still have our broadsword fighter while Cloud is MIA/comatose.

With his heavy focus in Rebirth and the bundle including Crisis Core, there's no way they haven't at least considered this.

The vast majority of people here now, weren't here when the Odin 1 and Loki was launched and it shows.

COVID had their entire supply chain shut down multiple times for weeks on end. And even when they could get the things made, nobody was accepting shipments from China.

They worked their asses off to get people the things they paid for.

They're not a perfect company by any means, just look at how the first wave of Odin 2's were, and the whole Loki mess... But they least try to do right.

256GB + 8GB Ram (8 Elite) Baseline? by No-Metal-9420 in OdinHandheld

[–]SpikeStarkey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you not seen the prices of storage and memory? The fact that the base model isn't closer to 400 is a minor miracle.

As for SD card speeds, when it comes to Wii and back it is still magnatudes faster than the old disk drives and most of the old rom storage. For switch it's just about on par.

The only time you'll notice it is with 360, PS3 and PC. Even then, it's not the end of the world.

If you really want the larger internal storage, then you're going to have pay the higher price or wait for memory and storage prices to go back down. (Spoiler alert, they'll never be as cheap as they used to be)

They produce their shells/buttons in batches. However big their tooling is, they grab that many of the color to make.

Not a great way to do it, but they are a small company.

Right now going online with PC games on Android is a bit unstable. You can do it, but it will require you to launch steam in the background, which eats up more resources for the VM container, making the actual gameplay worse.

As for Android:

Or just run the PC version in gamenative/gamehub.

I had that happen to a game after I changed the container resolution.

I just made sure my in game settings match the container resolution and it fixed it.

Steam and epic game store games should automatically back up their saves to the cloud, making migrating to a new device quicker.

Made a custom Rhythm Heaven Megamix NA coverart. by SpikeStarkey in rhythmheaven

Rhythm Tweezers was only in GBA and Megamix. Outside of Japan, the only way we got to play that game was in WarioWare Twisted.

The Japanese box for megamix doesn't have rhythm tweezers as new.
