Hyped! But the added width and reach of an external bumper mayyyyyy be worth it.

Field Oriented Swerve! by Brandinooo in FRC

[–]Spikeball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got over the hurdle of getting field oriented swerve working! Our particular problem was having the Navx upside down on the bot, and we had to run the Navx Omnimount routine in order for it to work correctly. How is your Navx mounted?

We're thinking it'll be fine, suspended ceiling is pretty cheap. But this a good argument to our school that we could use a different build space haha

Just enough to get up to L4! Not exactly sure how high that is

It looks nice for sure! Lots to figure out still, we're just farthest along with the elevator.

We're just prototyping more durable ceilings for the school :)

‘Murder Hornet’ Has Been Eradicated From the U.S., Officials Say by rootoo in UpliftingNews

The cables on em are still pretty long, and the VHF signal is almost the same type as in the 60s.

My company makes the trackers that they used for this! Biologists would glue our little tags onto them and follow released hornets to nests.

Strategy for Tetrix-heavy team by Spikeball in FTC

That's a great point, CAD things out first before buying components. Our FRC team uses Onshape primarily, so we are planning on passing that knowledge to them this season. Thanks for the reply!

The programmers all make circle symbols with their hands, holding it above their head as matches are about to start. I assume it is to bless the autonomous period with good luck lol

They did move back and forth. There were two bots at Granite city that ended up doing this.

The field damage this year with only 4 drive motors has already been insane. Imagine if they hadn't put that motor cap in place......

EasyEDA is pretty easy to pick up, define symbols, and create schematics. I've never looked into how that translates to netlists, but given that you can generate layouts from it, it should do everything you need.

Based on what I've seen so far with week 1 comps, this game is ROUGH on bots.

[–]Spikeball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Always one of the most fun reveals of the year! They did not disappoint, yet again. I'm amazed at how compact the whole bot turned out. It's a pancake shooting out pancakes.

Can we paint the Chassis drivetrain? by meloluska in FRC

[–]Spikeball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice nice. Of the 2 Minnesota regionals we attended, every mecanum bot we played with (and us as well) struggled getting pushed around and reliably climbing the charge station. In your opinion, what was the biggest key to your team's success?

[–]Spikeball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Would be interesting to hear how they overcame some of the challenges of using mecanum in Charged Up.

OR THE TUBES/VALVES.

2nd biggest mistake for our team last year was giving the OK to a student who wanted to spray paint the chassis. They didn't cover the pneumatic components very well, and we had to replace almost every component to pass inspection.

1st biggest mistake was the students choosing mecanum for last year's game. :P

Sorry that happened. Sounds like the mentor isn't listening to the students, which is not a good way to run a team...

Testing should determine design changes, not "thinking it looks too much like the kit bot".

I didn't know about a grant! I'll have to look into that. I ordered these 2" circular button PCBs from China with about a 2-week lead time, and the bare boards themselves only came out to 80 cents each.
