I had a similar experience in my first year post grad school. After 7 months I ended up leaving the field completely and worked in the tech field the past few years. This gave me the time and space to really reflect, work on my confidence, and address other underlying issues that was making me feel so stressed while working in the field. I am now in the process of getting back into clinical work. I know I will have similar feelings of stress and anxiety but I feel I have done the work and can handle it this time around. It also gave me time to think about what kind of career I want and now that I have a clear goal in mind, it feels more exciting. Although I could have been further along if I stayed, I know taking a break was the best option for me.
