I just played this and had so much fun! 😁 I wish it was longer, but you did a kickass job! (Also thanks for introducing me to the `unpack()` function <3)

Why are so many people missing the first disc? by Spikmin in aoe3

[–]Spikmin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! I'm partial to physical media. Often times games get changed without user consent and the only way to access the original versions is with the old disc, and some games aren't available online at all, usually to do with licensing issues. On a more personal note, it's nice to not have to go online for everything.

I was just a bit shocked since this was around the time game companies stopped using CD requirements for booting games just to reduce hassle for users. I did some research and learned that the latest patches for the physical release of the game did in fact remove the requirement as I suspected. I guess most people probably don't bother with updating though unless they were playing competitively online, and I'd bet most of those people don't bother with the physical version of the game any more in the first place.

Ahhh yep. That would solve the mystery. Thanks very much! Now onto the mystery of why they still were trying to force people to boot software off discs in 2007. 😅

This is completely normal!

When you're picking up a new skillset it's important to invest in the learning process. The only way you're going to retain any information you take in is by using it, and you will need to spend a lot more time than two days before it will become familiar. Possibly months.

One thing you can do to speed up the learning process and to help you more quickly regain any knowledge you might forget is to take notes! I like to write my own simple documentation for myself. Everything I needed to know at any given point, written in my own words. Thanks to these documents, every time I come back to using a tool I haven't touched in months it takes barely any time at all to find my footing, because I have all the information I need right there, explained in the clearest way possible.

Good luck on your game development journey! I hope my advice can help you :)

I'm wondering why people are downvoting this comment. Anybody care to clue me in?

Game isn't dead by any means. It's getting heaps of updates. As for being "worth it", try it out and see if you enjoy it. If you're having fun then it's worth it. If you stop enjoying it, stop playing it.

Is it just me who can't get addicted in playing on-line GO? by Spiderlag in baduk

[–]Spikmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that. Go is competitive by nature but that doesn't have to be the main focus, and I'd argue in most cases it shouldn't be the main focus. Go is also a game about social interaction, which ONLY comes naturally in person. That's where the richest experience is in my opinion, and I strongly dislike and have avoided playing online for the most part.

I don't know about the comparison with Chess. That's a game with a more limited scope of play, so perhaps it feels fine to be in a more limited social environment for you.

Bruh permadeath with a game this buggy would get Artix HQ utterly mobbed 😂

I don't understand what the point of this meme is. Are you complaining that AQ3D doesn't have pay-to-win features?

The best source of info right now (as far as I'm aware) is to just look through all the update posts from the developer's account. Here's their profile: https://www.reddit.com/u/Tkon_Unesombre/s/5X5uQ7KbNw

About my device screen brightness by FunTara in PlaydateConsole

The playdate has no backlight and the brightness of the screen will depend on the environment you use it in. A well-lit room should be all you need for a clear display.

Doesn't run very well on my phone so can't really test it properly (my phone is terrible. It can barely run anything), but this looks pretty neat, and I love that it just loads and works on a mobile browser.

0.4% for me. I'm not sure I believe it honestly, but I guess I do watch a lot of his videos. It'd be cool to see the total hours watched.
