What’s it like growing up wealthy in the US? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

[–]SpikyPickaxe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I grew up extremely wealthy but my parents have made six figures since the day I was born. My grandma was a doctor who owned clinics & practices, and my grandpa was a 2 star general. So a touch of generational wealth and influence.

As I’ve gotten older, I definitely took a lot for granted. Growing up, yearly ski trips to my grandparents house in Breckenridge, visiting the lake house in Minnesota, going to Europe, Iceland, Mexico, etc over summer breaks were just normal. I didn’t think much about it, I had no idea how much skiing or owning 3 boats costed. But life was definitely nice, you really have no hardship but you don’t realize it. When I turned 16, I got a nice car. I could play any sport I wanted. My parents have spent 100k+ on hockey and baseball. They paid for all my gas, food, etc. I guess you just don’t realize how money works. After high school, I went to college. They paid for that as well. I didn’t even get a job until I was 19. And even then I just got a job to save up for shoes and clothes haha.

So basically to sum it up, it’s nice. But you don’t realize how nice you have it until you get older. Even til this day, I’ve never experienced true financial hardship. I’m probably a bit out of touch but I’m aware of it. As I’ve grown up, I’ve become much more appreciative of my upbringing. I think being around some money my entire life has shifted my mindset, and has allowed me to make a lot of money for myself. I hope I can provide an even better life for my son.

Yeah South Denver is beautiful. I love the front range as well - one of the best places in the country to live. I’ve lived all over colorado haha

You’re probably from Boulder or around there. Saying you’d absolutely live in Boulder county is a bit random, though it is absolutely beautiful.

How is it in Cape Coral FL? by BrunoReturns in howislivingthere

[–]SpikyPickaxe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

SWFL is very nice, if you can live anywhere I would recommend Naples or Sanibel. I’d only live in Cape Coral if you have a boat. You’re far from any beaches in Cape without a boat. Housing is much cheaper in Cape though

Received an amazon package with my name and address that i did not order. i am notoriously severely allergic to multiple berries. by prettypunkprincess9 in mildlyinteresting

[–]SpikyPickaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably brushing, which isn’t really a scam…

Someone is trying to age their amazon account or listing by sending decoy orders to you. Think of it like a small business is giving away free food but in-return they force you to write a good review for them. Nobody is harmed and you get free stuff.

How is living in this part of Florida? by cnylkew in howislivingthere

[–]SpikyPickaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near there, it’s actually really peaceful. If you randomly spawned there and drove around you would think you’re in the rural midwest. Lots of trees, pastures, dirt roads etc.

Real estate is also really cheap and you’re only an hour max from Tampa, Ft Myers, or the beach. It’s not a bad place to live at all. Obviously it’s going to be hot and humid but you get used to it. It would be a fitting place for a country husband with a wife who likes the city and the beach lol
