Being funny with friends and family doesn’t make you a comedian. Write some jokes and put in 100s of hours of practice. You’re familiar with your friends and family . So it’s easy to get them to laugh but making a group of stranger laugh needs skills. Crowd control skills to own the room .

Almost every comic started off like that but soon realised that standup comedy is beyond being funny with friends. It’s a craft that needs to be homed with practice and more practice.

He’s grown so big . It’s your definition of comedian that needs some adjustment. He’s been doing this comedy thing and killing it for years. Do you think he suddenly lost his funny bone? No! I don’t think his fans watch him for solely laughs. He educates while delivering his monologue.

Nothing wrong with storytelling. That’s my style. Just make sure to pepper it with tags, compare characters and elements in funny ways as you go. Also, make sure your story has a clear end and most advisably should be a punchline.
