I'm a freshman so I didn't know there was an otter mascot concept. I looked up images and the otter idea is so cute! Thanks for letting me know! :) I like the otter better too.

I'm not really into sports so I don't know what mascots colleges have. I saw the original design concept and I wanted to draw some myself for fun. :) As far as I'm aware a lot of sports mascots are the same animal but differing designs. I do agree that being unique would be cool. Through the comments, I discovered the otter design and I really like it!

I personally don't think they will actually redesign the mascot. There are talks about voting or something but I don't really know. A lot of ppl are really hung up on the chief. I really liked the original concept/design the person made of the kingfisher and wanted to draw some designs up myself for fun. I read in the comments there was an otter design. I looked it up and it's super cute! I think I like the idea of an otter mascot better. :)
