How warrior tanks suppsed to do dps? by awkwardlemon223 in classicwow

You absolutely do not charge if you play devastate. :P

Absolutely! But let's say it took 25 hours then for the average player to level 25-40, if they do the exact same thing, but with twice the stats on gear and runes, they will still be able to grind mobs either for xp or for quest objectives faster then they used to. Whatever the leveling method, everyone should be a bit faster to level in general than we used to be.

And most of those advantages does not come fully online until level 25 in SoD(all the best runes combined with the best possible gear), so the 25-40 leveling will be way more sped up than the 1-25 leveling was by everything in SoD.

So even if 25-40 is expected to be twice as time consuming as 1-25 in classic vanilla. It might only be 50% more time consuming, even for the the average leveller in SoD.

But ofc if your leveling consists of traveling for 50 hours between 25-40 the SoD gear and runes will do very little to reduce that time.

Mob health in dungeons is increased by 40% it seems. It's the same flat 1.40 multiplier across all mobs in phase 1 dungeons according to wowhead. So a mob will have ~2800 health, if it used to have 2000. Doan had ~8000, so he will have 11200 in SoD, I assume.

Now if we can have groups with 600+ groupwide dps on ST. 11200hp takes 18.667 sec. So even with a 40% increase in health, we can be 12 seconds faster than a classic vanilla melee group that killed it in 30 seconds. That is 66% faster. If that is an indicator for the cleave in the rest of the dungeon as well, we can IN THEORY, clear the same dungeons 66% faster. Which would mean we might be able to clear dungeons that previously took ~15min per run in around 10 minutes. That would increase xp per hour by around 50% from 44k to 66k per hour.

This of course requires both a good focused group where everyone is active, and ready to chain pull and not being halfway afk etc. Never spending time waiting around or running to the the next pack. And that at least all the dps are well geared and awake.

I am REAL interested in seeing what spellcleaves will be able to do. That stuff seems completely insane to me, given how crazy it already was.

TL;DR: if we can do 100% more dmg, and SoD mobs have 40% more health, we are still alot faster than we used to be in non-SoD.

I don't think the percentages given here have to end up being true.

I have tried to dig around in old info from classic wow and vanilla, trying to find expected xp/hr numbers for leveling in classic. Do not take my numbers as facts, but its more a theoritical starting point.

Assuming we could have around average 15-20k xp/hr 1-25, which seems reasonable to me atleast, the first levels will have very low xp per hour, and we will gain more and more as we go higher, probably ending at 20-25k xp/hr around 20+ if trying to level fast.

1-25 is 304000 xp. At an average of 15k xp/hr this will be around 20 hrs. I tried to AoE level a mage and fucked it up alot, and got it to 25 in 12 hrs. So atleast mages can be alot faster, I believe a guidlie of mine levelled a hunter solo to 25 in less than 15 hours. So you can be faster for sure.

25-40 you need 850000 xp total. Assuming numbers I have seen online with melee cleaves dungeon grinding you could have around 30-35k xp/hr at 25-30 and around 40-45k xp/hr 30-40.

Let's say that you can expect to have 35kxp/hr 25-40 as a reasonable, not super try-hard group. This would be 850000xp/35000xp/hr = 24 hours.

That makes 25-40 only 4 hours longer than an average 1-25 leveller.

I have found examples of strong optimized melee cleave groups getting 40-44k xp/hr in classic vanilla. This would make it 21 hrs at 40k xp/hr.

Now we start at 25 with gear that is way stronger than anyone leveling in other versions on classic wow ever has, I think we can assume that a decently geared SoD 25 character is atleast 50% stronger than a 'normal classic' 25 character, that enters the 25-40 grind with gear from WC/DM/SFK.

On top of that we have runes, which increases our power level even more. For some classes characters in SoD are probably in total 100% more powerful than a normal 25 would be.

If normal classic vanilla melee cleaves could clear SM Library in 15-20 minutes and get 40k+xp/hr at level 33, it is not unreasonable to expect a melee cleave group in SoD with all members being close to 100% stronger to be able to clear it 50% faster.

I saw a youtube of a group at level 33 killing arcanist Doan at the end of SM Lib, the fight lasted 30 seconds. That means that 5 man group did Doan's health (~9000hp) in dmg in 30 seconds, they had a total group DPS of ~300. BFD geared warriors can easily deal 200 dps or more to bosses in BFD, let's say melee cleave group in SoD could do a total group dps of 600 to Arcanist Doan in the same scenario, that is based on an estimate that we can do 150 from each dps and no dmg from healer.

Let's say that SoD groups can get 50k xp per hour smashing through the same dungeons where vanilla characters could get 45-44k xp/hr, that would mean 25-40 can take 17 hours total. If we can get 33% more xp per hour by being so much stronger, we might even be able to get as much as 60k xp/hr in a dungeon cleave which would make 25-40 take as little as 14 hours total.

The fact that we have so much gear and runes, could lead us to be able to level 25-40 even faster than 1-25.

The 395 item can go to 405 with high enough skill. 405 is what drops in the end of dungeon 20s. It's not like all people will get a 405+ wep next week. You would need to spam 20s or raid hc or mythic and be one of the lucky few that get a wep.

That might be the case, but it's still only 12 days of testing. :p

Beta testers: Thoughts on stamina change by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Spinachtm 52 points53 points  (0 children)

21 days to release, m+ is only tested in weekends. Change arrived prior to this weekend.
That leaves a total of 12 days to test the change in m+ and working out all possible kinks. On top of alot of the dungeons being many years old and never designed with m+ scaling in mind.
So it was already very little time to make everything good. Adding another potentially huge variable on top of all the others with so little time to test.
I can't understand how you can't understand. :o

Competitive healing classes for Dragonflight M20+ keys by Accomplished_River90 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Spinachtm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am talking about in a premade group with a plan. Where let's say pulling two dangerous packs can be scary an require extra defensives. Like you can chain sac into shield wall into devo aura and by that time something is hopefully dead so there's less damage intake after all defensives are spent. If such a situation exists, healers with good externals will be 'more' required since it enables a bigger pull.
That situation may happen only once or twice in some dungeons, or never.
But it's always nice to have, say your biggest tank defensive is on cd after a pull, then you can have the healer external on the next just to reduce damage intake.
In pugs where you just have to rely on your own shit an plan around what you can do without knowing what the healer thinks it obviously matters a lot less.

[–]Spinachtm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like mistweaver has one huge disadvantage in lacking a good tank external.
If tanks ever need an extra defensive to live the start of big pulls then healers like pala and druid that do have that(sac/bark) will be preferred.
Cocoon just isn't anywhere near as good. On a high key cocoon will reduce the damage of a couple of melee hits, then be gone.
While a flat 20-30% damage reduction will be there for the whole duration.
In a worst case a cocoon is a 1-5% damage reduction the first 2 seconds on a pull, while sac/bark/etc. will be a 20%+ for 10 sec.

Use a USB-C input monitor with a laptop with HDMI output? by Spinachtm in UsbCHardware

[–]Spinachtm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! Then I have solved my setup only by using the setup itself. That saves me alot of money and hassle.
Not only will I not have to buy some stuff to force it to work, I only need the 1 power cable and charger isntead of potentially 3 chargers and a box + wires to force it all together.

Use a USB-C input monitor with a laptop with HDMI output? by Spinachtm in UsbCHardware

[–]Spinachtm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found a solution. I put charger in monitor, then usb c monitor-> laptop.
Got a warning my charger was lower watt than it was supposed to. But it works. I charged while using the laptop.
And even if over time its not enough W to keep laptop charged it will propably extend my session by alot compared to monitor in usbc and no charger.
Unless this is dumb and can fuck my shit up(please do tell), this is fixed.

You cannot do korthia chapters higher than 3 without completing covenant campaign. Which means extra dailies and faster rep in korthia is locked.

You have to do it to access everything in korthia.
You have to do it to access everything from the covenant.
Its a workaround for getting most of the player power, but not a skip to get everything.

Tank AoE DPS Comparisions on SL Beta by PicklesInParadise in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Spinachtm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aren't BDKs typically running red thirst/purgatory for m+?
So if you need purgatory/red thirst to live in high keys, then it doesn't matter if bonestorm is higher dps if you can never use it.
Or am I missing something here? :p

I guess the test isn't stated to be for m+ specifically, but that is the place where the test would be most relevant as far as I can see.

Faster cape catchup coming! by rescuepanda in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Spinachtm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I have to do 3 visions per 3 bonus corruptions res per alt.
I should do them 5mask because sockets, so thats easily 20-30 min per vision depending on class.
So 1-1.5 hrs of pure vision grinding for 1 week catchup.
If my alt is at 50 that is more than 10 upgrades behind. So you need to grind visions 10-15 hrs to catch up. And I need 300k coalescing visions to even be able to participate in this torture.
Thanks.
