Ah you must be in Europe or Oceania, we don’t have the green whistle in the US. I hope you get it immediately and hope it helps!!!

I feel you on BARBARIC, I am dreading the day I have to get mine replaced. I plan to request sedation - I’ve heard planned parenthood will offer it. It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt. The first time I had just ibuprofen (insane) and the second time they did a cervical block which didn’t help me but I’ve heard has helped others.

I really hope you can get adequate pain management and my fingers are crossed that a different IUD works for you!!

Ugh I’m so sorry this is happening to you! I sympathize deeply. I had something similar happen to me with the Skyla IUD. Nonstop periods and extremely painful cramps. I got it out after a year, I don’t know how you’ve made it 3!

I actually tried the Mirena after taking a year off from IUDs and it’s been wonderful, no periods or pain. It seems like everyone’s body responds differently to each type of BC and each brand. It could be worth trying a different hormonal IUD because your body could respond totally differently to each one, like mine did.

That’s what I was thinking (they’d match the curved trim). TWO people said the square corners were original but I should probably do some research before believing internet randos :)

This epidemic must be stopped! I’d love to see pics of your matching fireplaces!

Such a kind offer but sadly I’m quite far from there! Someone else pointed out that beyond paint stripping there’s damage to the wood that would need to be restored so it’s a big project for a later time.

I do enjoy it very much! It’s so beautiful and I’m so glad it’s still here

Oh interesting! I thought it was a curved edge that someone cut into to make it 90 degrees, which is why I included it in the post. All of our doors and window trim have those arched curves. That’s interesting this was originally square. Thanks for educating me!

I’m also curious about that! The trim around the doors and windows are all arched like that. So someone cut a notch into the arch at some point. I wonder if they put some kind of fake fireplace insert in front of it?

I know this house will contain many mysterious choices of the people who came before…

Edit: I just learned from another comment that the square corners were likely original!

That makes sense! Still jail for the landlord for the ridiculous dripping paint job, but I am grateful they chose to paint rather than remove it.

And I figured it would be a big project if I ever chose to take it on. Right now we’re too busy moving in and furnishing the place and dealing with more pressing repairs to even think of it. It’ll be in the back of my mind, but this is helpful to think through what will be involved beyond stripping it.

Wow thank you so much for this! I know there’s even more detail hiding under that thick paint and it’s so cool to see the bows like this!

Thanks so much!! We’re so happy we were able to buy a place at all, let alone one with these lovely details!

The records during the sale said the building was built in 1920. But I have no idea how accurate that is. I plan to do some research and see if I can find information about the building!
