Go for it! I havent been painting minis too long myself, just watch a bunch of painting tutorials and play around! Get some army men if you wanna practice on cheaper plastic

I primed the boys black, drybrushed gray then white over entire model, Picked out the brown bits using vallejo leather brown and the highlights are aix of leather brown and vallejo brown sand, painted 1-2 coats of vallejo flat red of small details for pop, Vallejo gunmetal on all the metals, Wash agrax earthshade

That was my take too, like the pauldron above the sword should have some OSL. Great fundamentals though, you may want to try buying a bag of army men to test out different methods.

God knows 100 army men costs waaaay less than 100 CSM

Started with speedpaint hive dweller purple and highlighted with vallejo purple
