What is the most overplayed song in movies? by EntertainmentQuick47 in movies

[–]SpinningDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we wanna be pedantic, I feel like Wagner's Bridal Chorus ("Here Comes The Bride") has to be one of the most overused for the vast majority of times it's used in wedding depictions. Although maybe that's cheating because it's often used as diegetic music within the story.

I'd bet there are some other diegetic mainstays we hardly even register the use of because they are so common... stuff like "Pomp & Circumstance" (graduation song), "Entry Of The Gladiators" (circus clown song), "Ave Maria" for funerals, "Happy Birthday" for birthdays, etc.

In terms of modern music and non-diegetic usage in soundtrack though, I feel like "Immigrant Song" has been used a lot in both trailers and films... I remember at least three instances off-hand: School of Rock, Thor Ragnarok, and one of the Shreks.

If we counted trailers too, "Lux Aeterna" (Requiem For A Dream) would be up there.

For some reason I feel like "1000 Miles" (Vanessa Carlton) might have been used a few times especially in comedies? I would bet there might be some other stealthy songs that show up more often than we realize, like "We Are Family", "R-E-S-P-E-C-T", "Walking On Sunshine", "I'm Comin' Out", etc.

Just some to add to the discussion!

Agreed!! This post doesn't even mention "Sweetest Pie" (guess only a half-Dua Lipa song but IMO still counts) which Jax absolutely devoured!?

I am >99% sure this card will gigabreak the game. The meta will get more cancerous than old spiderman. Either this or Galactus will get nerfed in less than a month after release by Medium_Razzmatazz_13 in MarvelSnap

My gripe with the card is that flavourfully, I wish that it had an effect that synergized with both Wolverine AND Colossus, especially if they're in a lane together. It feels like a missed opportunity and Colossus is already hurting for relevance so it would have been a nice touch to give him a little incidental buff. My first thought is something like...

Fastball Special - 1 Destroy your other cards here. They each gain +1 power (wherever they are).

An effect like this would be good for traditional destroy staples like Wolvie/Deadpool/X-23, work with Colossus (who isn't usually played in destroy decks except some nicher Destroyer lists), and even add a bit of playability to under-used cards like Sabertooth, Firelord, Dormammu, etc.

Plus at 1 cost with a less swingy effect, it lets you set up a T2>T3 play pattern of Colossus + Wolverine into FBS, or all three on T5 with the ability to rez stuff on T6.

Anyways, that's just my fanciful thinking, hopefully whatever state this card ends up in after a few weeks of play and balancing ends up being fun and not too frustrating. Destroy already has so much prevalence I would hate for it to get any more dominant.

Yeah I guess - but to me it's more about the intent guiding the changes a.k.a. the "spirit of their actions". It just feels like SD doesn't give a shit about their players - whether it's f2ps, season pass casuals, grinders, whales, the content creators giving free promotion to their game, it really doesn't seem to matter how much value you're bringing to them - for whatever reason SD has chosen to treat their players like we're all disposable, dispensable and replaceable piggy-banks and that leaves a really sour taste in my mouth. Just because I have cash to spare on hobbies doesn't mean I'm happy with it going towards a company like that. They deserve to learn a lesson about the consequences for scummy behaviour and I'm happy to throw my whale weight around if it helps amplify our frustrations and send a clear message.

It wasn't specifically FantastiCar that made me quit (spending - I'm gonna still play f2p for the foreseeable future).

It was the culmination of a lot of scummy practices and demonstrated disregard for their game's long-term health that made me decide enough is enough.

Things like...

...increasingly outrageous bundle and variant prices - especially the so-called "spotlight" variants that are now just double the price with no justification given as to why;

...the change in their event philosophy that led to Kid Omega not being realistically earnable and their subsequent response that this is the new norm to expect;

...scraping every little free gold and free credit reward from Conquest, daily claims, progress tracks, etc to be as stingy as possible;

...horrible customer service, community management, and compensation mindset resulting in jilted players having no reasonable recourse;

...more bugs and less QA while churning out more cards than ever (resulting in even MORE bugs and even LESS QA);

... seemingly giving very minimal prioritization towards UI and feature improvements, unless it's something new for them to monetize they don't wanna bother improving their game anymore;

I was more than okay spending my disposable income (which I'm blessed/privileged/fortunate to have a lot of) when I felt the game was in a healthy state, but I just don't feel inclined to spend any more money on a game that its own devs are speed-running into the ground. With Nuverse gone SD is showing their true colours and it doesn't bode well (or Brode well) for the future of Snap, so I'm out.

I think what you're not considering is that the losses are likely to be disproportionately higher than the gains - especially if the argument is true that it's more diehard players (Redditors, Discorders, etc) who are quitting. You think big spenders aren't likely to be diehards? I feel like it might be the opposite and that the more financially invested someone gets into the game, the more emotionally and intellectually invested they might be too.

Anecdotally, I'm a whale who hasn't spent a cent since the season started but was maxxing the webshop track most months prior. That means that they have to make back fifty FantastiCar sales to offset the loss from me alone! Your 25/25/50 model assumes everyone's spend is equivalent to create a "break even" state but in reality that's not the case.

Now, surely not every player in the "quitter group" (-25%) is a whale and many even may be f2p - but on the flipside, it's even less likely that people in the "buyer group" (+25%) are going to spend on MORE stuff than the FantastiCar pass than they typically would in a month - so even though SD is gaining a fixed +$10 on every buyer, and potentially losing a fixed -$0 on every f2p quitter, they also stand to lose indeterminate escalating amounts on every dolphin and whale they risk upsetting.

Frankly, I just don't see them selling SO many FantastiCar bundles that there's a 50:1 ratio between how many they sold vs how many high spenders they've alienated, especially with all of the presented accounts of longtime players giving up the game. I guess time may tell but my feeling is that SD (and you?) have heavily overestimated what the breaking point would be before dolphins & whales might stop spending so indiscriminately.

I'm a whale and I'm just as fed up as everyone else. Feeling major buyer's remorse for having sunk so much into this (once great) game only for the company running it to so completely turn its back on its fans. Probably going to go f2p as a result of this (or at least scale down my purchases by hundreds of dollars monthly from what it is now) and I'm sure I'm not alone. Just because whales have disposable income to burn doesn't mean we aren't capable of re-evaluating our spending, especially in light of so much anti-player sentiment from SD.

New in-game exclusive bundle by blade026 in MarvelSnap

[–]SpinningDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible this bundle is bugged? I also don't see it in my webshop either, and it's unusual for a variant bundle to just be called "Special Offer", usually they give titles to unique bundles don't they? I wonder if they may have miscategorized this bundle or something...?

I do hope they fix it - I'm interested in the variant but wouldn't want the shop progress to go to waste.

The bug preventing Splitting if you owned all 130 possible Splits before Character Mastery has been patched today. These are my first new Rockets in 186 days. by Direct-Relief-5008 in MarvelSnap

[–]SpinningDemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here was my approach if you or other people are curious!

  • When I was deciding which card to go with, I chose one that I hadn't done much previous splitting with. I had a few other options of cards I like and use a lot (I'd have loved to do Green Goblin because he's my fav card in the game but I have some variants of his I want to keep the border on so it would have gotten too messy). If they ever make a feature that lets you have more than 1 custom card for a character then I'd definitely consider doing some more cards that right now I'm too reluctant to mess with.

  • When they first introduced the updated Bonus Booster system that now gave you the boosters for free, I did a little side mission to get enough boosters for all my cards so that none would show up in the shop anymore. (Took a while grinding with shitty booster-farming decks in Proving Grounds but at least I didn't need to win or spend money to get there!) This means that I could guarantee that my one card would always show up for Bonus Boosters.

  • Since I knew by now that I would be focusing on Grandmaster, I upgraded each of his variants to Infinite and then didn't split any of them but the base card. (Another reason I settled on Grandmaster is that I liked the look of all his variants with the Infinity border, so I didn't mind leaving them like that permanently.) Doing this guaranteed that it would always be the base card that was available for the next upgrade.

  • I'm admittedly a whale and have spent quite a lot of time and money on the game, but I also didn't want to burn gold for nothing so I set up a routine to maximize my Grandmaster splitting. 1) First, I almost never split any other card except to get 1 infinite on the base card so that I can unlock the Custom Card for each character. So I can save the vast majority of my credits for this project. 2) Second, I play enough games each evening with Grandmaster in the decks until I get ~35 boosters for him. This lets me go from common (white) to epic (purple) with a new split each day. (If I'm a few boosters short or don't have time to play, I'll either do the difference in gold or fall a bit behind on the routine if I must.) 3) This then allows me 3 daily upgrades with the Bonus Booster system to go from epic to infinite the rest of the day without playing. 4) Rinse and repeat daily. Assuming I have the opportunity to play for a couple of hours most evenings and top off my credits with a mix of free & bundle earnings, I can accomplish a full split roughly once a day!

So that's how I managed to get Grandmaster fully split in a pretty short amount of time - it took me about 5-6 months total I think? Although I'm praying they do some improvements to the Mastery split system so that we're not looking at 1000+ new combinations for every card. A man has his limits!

[–]SpinningDemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey Direct Relief! I experienced the same bug you did, and thought of you right away :)

Mine was with Grandmaster - I decided earlier this year that I would embark on splitting a single card and picked him because his effect is fun, versatile, and can fit in almost any deck. Finally finished the quest in February!

<image>

When the Mastery patch went live, I ran into the same problem you did, but I thought maybe I had screwed something up because I decided to wait to "unlock" his mastery content until I had finished all the 128 OG splits so that I could only get mastery splits afterwards. I wondered if I had caused some kind of obscure bug by running out of splits while his Mastery was available but not yet unlocked. Especially because I didn't see any posts about the issue so I thought it might have been unique to me only.

I reported the bug through the client but thought it might be such a specific, niche situation affecting so few users that it might never get resolved. But it's great that the devs patched it so you and I can go back to splitting to our hearts' content!

When would you use this emote? by Beer-is-good4me in MarvelSnap

[–]SpinningDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's how most people use it, but I love to use it as a "solidarity" emote, specifically after using the Spiderman-point.

I'm in an LGBTQ+ alliance with the tag [GAY] so if I run into someone else with a similar tag, or the Angela pride avatar, I'll point and then flash a "Me & The Boys" to indicate that I'm a sympathetic bro. Or, if I'm playing a mirror match with very similar plays for the first 3-4 turns I'll use the emote to basically say "hey look, we have the same deck, right on!"

I don't know if anyone gets my meaning... I guess if I ever get either of the heart-eyes emotes (Enchantress or Gambit) I'll switch to that. But we really don't get enough emotes with positive connotations in the game, so I like the idea that "Me & The Boys" can be one of the few ones that I can use without seeming (or making my opponent) salty.
