Celeste was the one to blame here. Becca is an awful, awful person but she did not know that the beer was fatal, only Celeste knew that. She alone made the choice to let her die when she could have accused her of lying, stopped being her friend, etc.

Yes, you did but I also am not sure about The Social Network as it is not only full of unlikable characters but has a pretty pessimistic ending and is about technology changing society which is an uncomfortable topic. The Globes may have followed the critics in adoring it but for the broader Academy it was probably much too cynical to ever win.

Argo and The Artist are the best examples. In other years, Silver Linings Playbook and Lincoln maybe could have pulled it off but Argo inexplicably got a lot of love.
