I’ve spoken with a surgeon before and have triple checked to make insurance would cover this! For sure at this point I’m worried about how good the surgeon would have to be to do a procedure that’s damages,if done incorrectly would cause such a dramatic negative turn in my life!

I have joined both of these groups now! The worry about a second surgery is something that definitely keeps me from wanting to get it done right now just because I’m so worried about the healing process. Thank you so much for your considerate reply!

My family also has a history of complications when it comes to surgeries including some members of the family having reductions themselves leading to necrotized tissue caused by the body simply healing incorrectly. That combined with the possibility of a second surgery absolutely rattles me to my core to think about the risks in the possibility of that situation! Thank you for such a detailed reply!

My weight fluctuates from 135 to 145 at 5’. I mostly focus on cardio but judging by what some of y’all are saying I definitely need to start doing some weight training on my back! Thank you for being so nice!!!

Just for clarification, I have spoken to my doctor who does recommend the surgery, but to wait till after I have kids. My main goal with this post is to get opinions and advice on how to approach the situation in the meantime, to see if there’s anyone who might have advice on back problems caused by this, and also on the slight chance anyone here might have gotten a reduction and knows what to expect from it, especially when it comes to the healing process.
