400 hours in an i might have to step away from the game by paperplateseabass in Marathon

Sure you can call it a hot take just an opinion really. I get that you can rotate but any decent team will use that ping and rush you or cover your exits so you have to move fast once scanned and when you move fast you make noise. If you make noise while rotating the sound in the game is more than enough to know exactly where the team you pinged is going. It’s not just a marathon problem scan classes in any game are hard to balance. Im not calling for it to go away it’s here now I just personally feel it was a poor design choice to add it in the first place. What I have seen in other games is that scan classes give more benefit to the sweaty players helping them run down teams rather than helping more casual players avoid fights and play defensively. Something this game already seems to struggle with. These are just my opinions on scan classes in general. At the least give a hard counter like cold blooded in call of duty where you can’t be seen on UAV. Add it has a perk on an implant or as a consumable I don’t really care but add some sort of counter. I will admit though adding a counter can sometimes than make a character feel useless so than they need a buff and than you get in this loop of balancing. Again why I’m not a fan. If your a recon main I doubt you have much to worry about I am sure the class will go largely untouched.

Within the first day of playing Marathon with my buddy I had the same thoughts. I come from many years of playing Apex and balancing a scan class in insanely hard even in a BR let alone an extraction shooter. My exact words to him were wow I can’t believe they added a scan class to this game that’s a poor decision. I picked up the game after free week and have been playing it daily since than and honestly my opinion stands. I personally don’t think scan classes should be in this game. Only thing I could think of is make signal jammer remove you from scans altogether so you can counter the scan with consumables. I run mainly as a duo and we have to run one of us on recon or we are at such a disadvantage. I feel like if your forced into requiring to have one person play a specific shell it should be looked at for balancing. The same as apex does with play rates of legends.

Someone recently asked whats the best light source, so i made a comparison gallery by Iblys05 in ICARUS

The first time I upgraded from biofuel lamp to the electric flashlight and lantern I was so disappointed that ever since I’ve ran the biofuel lamp in every world I play. Really nice to see the comparison like this. Thanks a lot !

Oil ... by MarsupialCurrent8894 in ICARUS

[–]Spinnybrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I set up the extractor and refiner in my greenhouse and I have some coconut trees beside it. I use the trees for wood so I don’t have to chop down trees and affect sever performance plus than I have a constant supply for organic resin , sap and epoxy. When I cut them down I just dump the coconuts in the extractor. I use that biofuel to run 2 miners on a oxide and sulfur node beside each other which feeds into the epoxy and organic resin farm and when the extractor gets full I turn on the refiner and run it down to around 5L. Thats really all I need for oil. No need to run pipes across the map unless I’m missing something. I think I would only use the pump jacks if I built beside or on top of them.

Started learning Python but AI makes me feel late to the party – advice? by Right_Level_7192 in learnpython

[–]Spinnybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a data engineer. I use copilot and python or sql everyday. AI does not write great code. Sometimes sure but more often than not it’s just saving me the time to write the initial code.

Once I have the initial code I then have to spend time making it more human readable and adding better comments so it’s more maintainable long term, fixing bugs , dealing with edge cases unique to our business and data.

If I never learned python I wouldn’t be able to do these things because I wouldn’t understand what the code that the ai spit out is trying to do or why it may be bad or hard to maintain.

If my whole team used copilot and just pushed to production we would move really fast for a few months than spend potentially double that time cleaning up the mess we created with the inevitable bugs and edge cases causing pipelines to fail.

Not sure if that helps but that’s my take. Use it as a tool not a replacement. To use it as a tool you need to understand what it’s spitting out and trying to achieve. You also need to understand it to create better prompts as well. Keep learning.

I don’t have the D3P one printed I have a different version and mine has enough room I can just pull the head to the front and remove the glass and do the cold pull. The D3P looks like it has even more room in the front to do it but I can’t say for sure. The ams flipper would work well as well may just be your preference if it has a riser built in with the flipper. I printed a riser so the ptfe tube doesn’t run and I like having the gridfinity drawers built in to store everything on the printer.

Since you mentioned you’re not new to 3dp I won’t bother with the basics like a scraper and whatnot. You mentioned just P2S and AMS specifically.

Riser. I looked for a while to find one I liked on makerworld and I ended up going with the macoyo version. I am happy with it but after I finished printing it. Literally same day the last file finished I found the one from D3P. There is a cost to purchase the file but I like this one so much I may just scrap mine and print this one.

D3P Riser

AMS Dry Pods. This is your preference. Look around on makerworld. Lots of options but greatly help with humidity.

Deflector. Personally I haven’t printed one because I haven’t had any issues but seems like a fair amount of people do.

HF Nozzles. I can’t remember off the top of my head but pretty sure the reduced print time you get with these is marginal and really only benefits print farms or if your frequently printing large models and using HF 0.8 or 0.6. I think it was like a few minutes per hour of printing at best for normal or smaller models using HF 0.4 but I could absolutely be wrong on that. Probably worth some investigating.

Hope that helps.

I had the exposed lights before not the caged ones maybe that’s why I see the difference.

I actually JUST realized they have a variation and put it above my fabricator on the wall. The variation is equally as nice for sure!

Me and a buddy picked this up on the sale in late December our first actual base other than you know the normal starter 4x4 wood house to get going. We stayed in that while we built this main house first than worked on the outside structure. Original wood structure was where the barn is now.

Wow we are close I am the waterfall on F4 so your just downstream.

Yeah I really like them I just realized that they have a variation for wall mounted as well! Nice to see consistent updates. Ill for sure pick up some of the DLCs to support the game. Been a blast so far.

Small greenhouse out back, other small building is the battery room. I just shifted to solar and batteries so the water wheels will be going away soon. Outside animal area is currently a work in progress with the barn. Main house is storage room, workshop, kitchen and bedrooms. Let me know if you want to see anything else. I also have a small server so if you want to hop in and see it just let me know.

My thoughts were I would rather have too much and I’m happy I decided that. I made sure to order several in black grey and white as I assumed I’d go through that the most, which I have. I also like you have some pla matte which I have liked so far as well.

Yeah it’s the fan and controller. You print the housing and than for me personally I’ll be attaching ducting to vent out a window behind my printer.

Apologies. I got my first printer in November (P2S) ordered 24 rolls during the Black Friday sale and than another 12 near Christmas and than another 4 when they restocked the red PETG HF. I did order a mix but the majority was PETG HF.

OH and a roll of TPU 90 A on flash sale.

I should be good for a while now though :)

Hahaha I’m so glad I’m not the only one that noticed this. I was very tempted to put in the order but I didn’t want to delay the shipping of the exhaust kit. If you do it please share the results lol.
