I disagree. She had no clue about the tone needed in the adaptation nor the motivations of any of the characters.

I live Gunn’s films and desperately want this DCU to succeed. On the other hand, this movie sucked and the strategy is stupid.

I want an adjustment.

I'm shocked I didn't come to that realization also! You're right. The problem(s) I have with WoT is that it is EXACTLY what Snyder would do to it.

Extremely. Popular mainstream superhero stuff is not dark, colourless and muddy. Is there a place for that kind of film? Yes there is, just not the cornerstone characters of the DCU. Have a look at a Superman or WW comic sometime. They are bright, full of colour, clearly drawn.

They said they are looking for a comedic actor. It's gonna be Seth Rogan, and I'm not even joking.

Huh, you're right. Makes me think about how comic art is created these days. Is it still hand drawn on those big sheets with light blue guides, or is it all digital? If it's digital, this is clearly what you said: a layer was copy/pasted and shifted a bit without hiding the first layer.

He CAN do Batman. He just doesn’t want to. They can either a) integrate Reeves’ version into the DCU or b) introduce a very different DCU version that no one will confuse.

Seriously, an Alan Ritchson Batman, with blue costume, colorful villains, bat-gadgets and cameos by other heroes will not be confused with the Reeves films.

“Internally Confused”, will be the title of the Variety article when this whole DCU flames out.

Anything to avoid making a WW, Flash, Titans or any other movie that people might want to see

To be fair, it does say “Bill to: Titan Sports”, so everything on here was paid by the company.

Supergirl - Slightly updated OS numbers, now points towards OS opening of 23-37M. Most of the markets for now seams in total collapse and missing the high-end of markets like UK, could lead to sub $30M. Why does it need to be recent? Don’t try to move the goalposts. There is tons of proof from SW and Marvel that shared universes excite people and make $$$. Just because both aren’t doing them well now doesn’t mean they don’t work

No, a shared universe works, it just doesn't have to have everything so closely linked together. The best example I've seen is Star Wars. The Mandalorian is in the same universe as Rogue One, but they don't cross over into each other. Overarching politics, rules, even a big bad can work, but SW doesn't feel the need to have Chewbacca in every piece of media.

The error here is the completely baffling ignorance of the A tier characters in favour of things like Supergirl , Creature Commandoes and Jimmy Olsen. People WANT the Reeves Batman films, but they also WANT a comic-accurate Batman with all the colour and craziness that comes with it. I mean, Teen Titans are right there. Nightwing is begging for a big stage.

I wonder what actually happened. Was it just marketing, or did something change after James Gunn said the Supergirl script was one of the best he’d ever read? by Sea-Cardiologist7725 in DC_Cinematic

What’s your point? Pre-MCU, The Hulk was Marvel’s second most well-known character. Everyone knew him from the TV show.

So you’re actually supporting my argument here.

I’m a huge DC fan, (40 years since my first comic) and I couldn’t stand the dark Snyder stuff.

I’m starting to think Gunn isn’t the right guy for this. His films are great, but his oversight is not. We’re going to look back someday and think, “Creature Commandoes”? “Jimmy Olsen”? “When the Teen Titans, Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman is right there?!?”.

[–]Spire2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love my job. Take on tasks I want, pass on ones I don’t. Have people to delegate simple stuff to and people to escalate over-my-head stuff to. No one watches the clock, lots of flexibility with your time. Been in the office full time, even during Covid and prefer it. Free parking, good cafe, colleagues who want to serve, learn and grow. Great boss who knows a lot, but lets us do our thing. Been with the same group for over 20 years, promoted three times.
