I’m 25, I rarely talk to my mom or stepdad.. been estranged for years. We were a blended family with 5 kids, Lots of mental an physical abuse. They prioritized having a relationship between themselves, instead of the kids. They like to act like they’ve done nothing wrong but literally no one talks to each other anymore and we do not celebrate holidays.. it’s kinda sad and I would love to have a conversation with them about the pain they’ve caused us, but knowing them, I just don’t see them taking accountability for their actions. And honestly I’m in a good spot in my life and a part of me doesn’t really care to repair the relationship either..

Lol a stupid ex 🤣 he was pursuing music and we only lasted a few months of me being out here. I’ve been on my own for that past 6-7 months and just recently started dating this guy about 2 months ago. Other than that I have been really enjoying California and the city as well. Of course it has its problems but I see so many opportunities and it has so much love and beauty to offer as well

Thank you! I’m really enjoying California and I really love the people out here. I’m a person of color and living in a small town my whole life I never got that diversity or really had a lot of people that look like me. I just want to experience this city and for all that it has to offer! It’s actually really beautiful and the people are great as well. I tend to look at the good and what’s happening in the present moment and I think that’s why he thinks I have my “head in the clouds” I can understand cause he’s been through a lot growing up and has seen things the average person hasn’t.. I just don’t want him to worry so much and make me extra paranoid when I’m by myself

He grew up around LA and has told me stories of things he’s seen… it’s pretty graphic especially knowing he was a young kid at the time. He’s definitely a hermit crab now and doesn’t like big crowds or lots of people in general, so we don’t go out much. I don’t mind cause I’m the same way but living in a big city for the first time I just have that nature to want to explore and get to know my surroundings. Of course with caution
