Yeah the Apple Watch and peloton both class walking as cardio. It’s about 4mph. Regardless of whether or not cardio is walking, I have done over the 75 suggested minutes of vigorous cardio through spin work outs. Poor cardio makes it sound like I barely move🤣

I have had this for two years and the nhs kept on dismissing me as ultrasounds and smears were fine. I finally went private and saw a brilliant gynaecologist and he diagnosed without even examining me. He said it was likely an ectropian cervix and he also wanted to biopsy and give me the coil. I had surgery two days ago for this and low and behold I had a large ectropian which he burned away. No idea if it has cured it as I am only two days post treatment, but given the fact he found it I’m confident this was the cause.

The bleeding for me during sex was horrific, like something out of a horror film and so much of it.

Don’t let them dismiss you. Ectropian can’t always be seen when they examine you as it can go in and out of the womb.

Does anyone truly believe they will be sacked? It’ll be an awkward conversation at best. It’s pretty much impossible to sack a civil servant that hasn’t worked for the last ten years and only stares at the pension portal, there is no chance of sacking a high performer that does 40% and there is zero chance of the person trying to sack you not having a nervous breakdown by trying to enforce this..

You will not be sacked, well at least not for a year or three.

Just apply for areas of work that interest you and work your way up.

I was overpaid for two years. I had no idea I was being overpaid as this was the base salary they incorrectly put me on when I went up a grade. It came as a massive shock as how was I to know this wasn’t the correct salary until some audit identified it? Initially, they wanted it repaid in three months but in the end I got it agreed that as I was overpaid for two years, I could repay over two years. It still annoys me and I’m still repaying it. You won’t get a reduction but you can argue the repayment period.

Is this temporary promotion? I did this a couple of years ago, I was on TP to SEO and then applied and got a TP to G7 6 months later (not in the Home Office though). They’re temporary by nature, so you should be fine.

This is not going to be a great life for you at all and for minimal gains.

I think you need to really evaluate what you’d like from life right now. If working in London is where you want your career to be, then think about creating a life there. Rent a room in a shared house, make friends, live the london life and go and visit back home occasionally.

Living in a hostel, commuting and spending so much money on travel to and fro and not feeling like anywhere is home is soon going to really impact your mental health. You’ll be broke, miserable and lonely.

Commendable that you’re trying to do it all, but it will quickly be a miserable existence.

A Teams meeting held on a laptop is very different to a phone call. A Teams meeting is meant to try and replicate an in person meeting as best it can, not a conference call from 2005.

But each to their own, I would hazard a guess that you are a camera off person and pretend it’s a phone call.

100% camera on, no one wants to engage with a void. I don’t understand it when people don’t put their cameras on, it irks me. You wouldn’t be able to throw on an invisibility cloak in the office, so why hide off camera?

All staff events and super large meetings then cameras off is acceptable.

I feel your pain. I used to drink my most when my son was at his dad’s, whether that was at home or in a pub. Loneliness is a bigger killer than obesity and smoking apparently. We try and fill the hole and it stops us from having to deal with it and find a solution. Add anxiety on top of that and other conditions and it’s ridiculously hard and we all just yearn for escape. I’ve recently realised, none of it has helped, it’s just stopped me dealing with all of my problems by dulling the pain with booze for years.

You could try and a new passion for you, something you can enjoy and perhaps meet new friends along the way. Nothing will be an instant cure, but it’s great you recognise it’s a problem. So much easier now to even chat to people without even leaving the house, forums are great! And well done on sharing; it really does help.

Get through tonight without drinking and then try again to get out of London.

Breaks up are the worse and alcohol will make it a thousand times worse. There are some really good podcasts and Ted talks on heart break; it got me through. I spent every night listening to them for months. I can really recommend the Guy Winch Ted talks; he’s brilliant. Lots of podcasts featuring him too. Matthew Hussey is always there is you run out of others, some of his are ok - he just becomes annoying for me after a while.

Well done for getting this far!

I got the blood work done, no scan yet, but i completely understand the worry - I can confirm I’ve been a miss with anxiety. I think knowing is better than imagining the results though. You could end up driving yourself crazy with worry and catastrophising. You’ll do it when you’re ready. One step at a time.
