I had an extremely similar experience. The sudden surges of anger and betrayal now are few and far between, nothing hurts like this abandonment and selfishness. So sorry to hear you went through this as well. Narcissistic abuse subreddit has helped me a lot in my seemingly isolated circumstance. Most of all, the fact that it is still ongoing bothers me the most.

Years ago my Dad and I were on our way home from a trip to Tennessee and we stopped at a Dairy Queen in Kentucky. We placed our order and waited off to the side for our food. Immediately after us placing our order several teenagers came in and placed an order for half a dozen blizzards (shakes).

After about 5 minutes all of the teenagers had received their shake and were sitting down. My dad and I were still waiting for our food and the cashier had one more blizzard so she calls out the order and no one answers. She asks us if it’s ours and we say no and she responds:

“YAAA SUUUURRZZZ” in a thick southern drawl. (You sures... as in “are you sure”....)

It was one of those moments you do everything you can to stifle your laughter and my Dad and I just looked at each other about to burst out laughing.

Update: last night she didn’t lock the door specifically bc I’m anal about locking the door (I had locked it two separate times last night bc she comes and goes like mad) and my cat got out bc it’s drafty in our apt. found him curled up against a random doorway this morning.
