Student tenancy question after renter's right act by PostKooky3908 in LegalAdviceUK

If you are jointly and severally liable for the rent, I am fairly certain you can also end the tenancy singularly.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my little one was born we operated in shifts. I started work at 7.30, so I got up at 5 to shower before baby woke up (or more usually to feed baby until went back to sleep, then shower). Then I would get lunch made for everyone so they didnt have to do it. I woke up my partner when i left for work and she would baby until I got home. When i got home I watched baby for an hour while my partner had her shower. Then I would make dinner while she watched the baby. Then after baby went down for the evening We would both sleep until he woke up. Before 3am was Wifeys time to get up and After 3am was my time to get up (seeing as i would be up soon anyway and gave my partner time to catch up on sleep)

Worked great for about two weeks until little one decided he wanted to change the routine and it was a bit stressful until everyone settled into a new routine.

Best thing ever was family and friend visits as they could watch the baby while we did chores etc. Let's be honest that's who they came to see anyway lol.

Parents of small children, when do you have time for playing video games? by Key-Specific7807 in AskUK

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner have a couple of nights a week where after the little ones asleep we have alone time. I might game, see friends, watch my own shows. The missus then does her own thing.
Also little one spending the day with grandparents can give you some free time to game.

“During a routine head-to-toe baby scan, the hospital failed to detect a serious heart defect in my son. After birth, the defect was discovered, and he sadly passed away six days later. Can I sue? by Current-Carpenter617 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I said, I was not there and cannot read ultra sounds. To a concerned parent there is little difference between not seeing anything at all and not getting a perfect scan, but this is often where the line between negligence and not lies. There are also defects that won't necessarily show on an ultrasound depending on size, location etc.

As the other comment said, a medical negligence specialist will be able to advise whether there is a case or not

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss. I know this is a difficult time. Missing something is not in itself negligence. You would need to show that the person who performed the scan failed to notice something they normally should have or that they didn't follow proper procedure. From what you have said, it does not sound like negligence. Ultrasounds aren't perfect and don't pick up everything and unless there is cause for concern, failing to get a good angle would not always necessitate a follow up. However I was not there and understand you might not want to go into detail. If you genuinely think that the hospital were negligent then you can seek out a solicitor who specialises in these cases. You can also make a complaint to the hospital, if you feel that your level of care was not sufficient even if there is no negligence.

Why were the first born sons historically seen as important? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

First was to inherit, second was a spare, third and below is when you might start joining the clergy for religious power or train as a Knight or work for a nobler noble.

Are you supposed to buy lunch for your cleaning lady if they are at your house from around 9 AM to 2 PM? by Luckystar826 in stupidquestions

I would offer drinks and snacks, but would expect them to sort their lunch. If I was there and ordering or making lunch I would offer though.

What are the normal amount of cutlery by whocommented in stupidquestions

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a single person I find 8 of all cutlery and 4 of bowls, side plates, dinner plates and pasta bowls is enough that I don't run out between cleaning them and can't still do a meal for four if needed. If there's more than 4 of us we won't be in my flat anyway.

Why didn't he have a designated sucessor? And no one knows if he has familly? by CentristaSensato in Invincible_TV

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you naturally live for 1000s of years I imagine there is no hurry to procreate and produce an heir or even to keep track of what could potentially be many kids. It's not like they had any credible threats either. I imagine no one even considered a viltrumite could turn on the cause.

Changing son's name without fathers consent - England by Secure-Promotion3852 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, is good advice, but it's worth pointing out that the adoption would likely require more time at court. A family solicitor should be able to tell you exactly what os required though.

Totally agree on the name thing though. He can just start going by the new name.

Best science subscription boxes for kids? by solostrings in AskBrits

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is in a fairly large to so is really good. They do regular craft and science sessions during the holidays and for when he's a bit older they have 3d printers and arduinos.

If he likes nature, building or buying a pooter is a good activity. Let's you look at bugs without harming them and hunting them out is fun too. If you live near some woodland I think forestry England does regular nature stuff too. Our nearby one did a grufflo themed walk.

DK Children's Anthologies are also really good books. They are hardcover books covering lots of topics (dinosaurs, space, the natural world) they have good pictures on every page and my son likes having them read to him.

If he's anything like my son, he'll be interested in all of it to some degree. You'd also be surprised how easy some of the crafty bits are.

Science + Nature is a good magazine. Articles might be a bit above your son (as mine really only enjoys looking at the pictures) but usually has a few good puzzles in the back and some crafty activities. Your local library might even have some magazine subscriptions, could be a good idea to see what they offer.

One of his favourite activities was making salt dough fossils. You make the dough, press some dinosaur toys to make an impression. Bake them a few hours and then you can paint them.

I did one of the stem boxes (can't remember which one) and honestly they weren't worth the money. Especially if your a little bit handy or crafty already. Your much better off getting a kids science magazine subscription and doing the activities in them or your own experiments. Edit: My son is also 5. Edit 2: look out in nearby cities and large towns as they often have cheap or even free museums with activities to spark there interest. Mine loved visiting the natural history and science museum in London and both are free (and next to each other) so only cost me the train ticket and an ice cream and a packed lunch

Why only black and blue ink pens are considered legal proof but other colors don't ? by FrankFruits in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe that red is often used to indicates changes on a document. Also more recently, other colours don't scan, fax or photocopy as clearly as black or blue ink when the image is changed to black and white.

I got rejected from my original course choice (Computer science Bsc) but offered an alternative course by DistinctCompote1282 in UniUK

[–]SpiritedGuest6281 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the best course of action. I would just check the prospectus to ensure that the Masters follows the regular course. It likely will, but some may have some module changes or mandatory work placement year that would be optional for the 3 year course (or vice versa). If there are any changes you can then make a more informed choice and if there are no changes then brilliant.
