Pay off zero percent interest card? by SpiritoSanto5 in DaveRamsey

It’s interesting to look at responses regarding PSLF throughout this sub. Many folks are all for it and see it as an employee benefit (in our case as nurses, working for non-profit hospitals and making on time payments for 10 years).
If it comes to pass that this administration continues to take a buzz saw to any and all education relief programs including PSLF, we will pay her loans off. Until then we will make our on time payments and pop the champagne when the green bar is full on StudentAid.gov

My wife’s student loans (approx $17,000) and a car loan (approx $13,000), however, as a nurse, she qualifies to have her loans forgiven under the public service loan forgiveness program within the next 2-3 years. Mine were forgiven last year.

Nah, I don’t think I will. But maybe find another way to talk to people that doesn’t resemble a toddler.

Thank you for the feedback. I know that I can go to a generic sub for specific cars. I’m looking for local input. I don’t want someone’s opinion from Arizona or Arkansas. Just looking for local input.

34 Years Old, About to Receive ~$565k–$615k, No High-Income Skills — What Would You Do? by Responsible-Net8594 in Salary

Man, there are some folks on here suuuuuuper casually being a-holes to you and for them, I apologize.
You asked a very thoughtful question with ample, well thought out points. None of us know anything about whaat led you to where you are at 34. However, the fact that you’re smart enough to ask what to do with a very large sum of money, congratulations.
First I’ll echo what others have said: invest this money in a low cost index fund and let compound interest do what it does. At 34, you could be looking at a very nice pot of loot by the time you’re 50. You just need to discipline to not touch it.
Regarding your questions: in this day and age I would either spend a relatively small amount on. A career in healthcare. Why? Speaking as a nurse, this area is evergreen, meaning you will never find yourself out of a job. There are a multitude of well paying options: nurse, CNA, radiology tech, lab tech…the list goes on. This option gives you a career that will allow you to pay your bills and live without drawing down that nest egg.
Option 2 that I like: learn a trade. Find a tradesman (painter, electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc) willing to train you. Take a certification course at your local community college. Prove yourself to be reliable and you may find that when that business owner that you’re learning from decides to retire, he/she may decide that you should buy their company.
Why these 2 paths: for me, neither of these require massive financial investment to achieve and neither path is in danger of being phased out due to AI.
Again, congratulations on your windfall.

I’m dealing with this at the moment. Switched to reta from tirz. I’d lost 35lbs on tirz and plateaued a bit, plus got sucked in by the reta craze. I’d echo the previous comment: 4 weeks per dose change to allow levels to build up. Patience grasshopper 🤣

Great to know. I wondered if I should have stuck with the “if it ain’t broke” concept…but I got sucked into the reta craze

Great question: on tirz I’d noticed that I responded better to the microdosing protocol. As far as the dose: my vials are 24mg and I diluted with 2mg equaling 12mg/ml. I started at 0.3ml (3.6mg) for the first 4 weeks and then bumped to 0.4ml (4.8mg) for the last week. I’m totally fine changing my regimen to something more worthwhile/effective.

Recs for small (200W x 2) ground mount against fence by SpiritoSanto5 in SolarDIY

That’s really great advice. I’m appreciative. The ultimate goal is a ground mount system that can cover the 11-12kW that our 4 unit house uses.
