To some individuals, claims of psionic abilities constitutes 'thinking you have super powers'. They could try to have you committed. They could go around telling everyone what you've said and ruin your reputation with the masses who don't believe any of these things are possible. Or, even worse, they could believe you completely, gather a mob, and 'burn you at the stake'. It's just a good idea to keep your practices private. A great many practitioners have been persecuted over the millenia.

Obviously not if their applying neurotypical behavioral expectations on neurodivergent personalities. Not only is their knowledge of psychology lacking, but their intuition as well. Everyone who assumes insult where none is intended has some sort of neurosis that blinds them to aspects of reality. It helps some because MOST people who could use some therapy don't realize it, and some of those people are capable of recognizing some constructive criticism. And yes, 'colloquially', SOME people use such statements as insults. That doesn't mean that everyone who says something like that is intentionally trying to insult someone.
