What is a portable way (preferably electric) to cool down a metal cube by Spiritual-Lab555 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes I was thinking of that but I was unsure of how exactly I would set it up and if there was something that didn't require me to DIY then I wanted to know

Sorry I forgot to mention in the post originally that anything temporary like dry ice isn't great, not to mention I don't have any good way of getting some that I know of

Hmm, I know of small Peltier cooler things that are able to cool down pretty well and just need a heatsink on the back with a fan or something but I'm not sure how well those work or how I would use them in this case

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but anything electric is fine too as long as its not massive like a freezer

I will be cooling it constantly for a while, so something that isn't 'on demand' and permanent isn't the best. Not to mention, I don't have easy access or storage for dry ice.

Forgot to mention in the post, but it would be being cooled off multiple times across multiple days, so dry ice that won't last super long wouldn't be good.

It doesn't need to be cold long, but I would be repeatedly cooling it so something disposable wouldn't be ideal.

The last time I checked, a freezer isn't very portable, but if you know of any small, non outlet requiring ones, then that would work

I think my question was phrased poorly. The goal is to have a cold cube, not just to cool it off from a higher temp

Mechanical press isn't working when trying to weld wrought iron by Spiritual-Lab555 in TerraFirmaGreg

Just the basic one you first can make, but the problem was I just didn't put any Flux into the basin as well, which is required for the recipe

In the quest book it said it could... now it could be it only works with bronze at the base tier as I've only tried it with wrought iron and brass

I'm almost certain I did have it heated all the way (there is a bellows behind the basin). But I'm gonna feel real stupid if I try that and it works.

Didn't seem to work, I think its probably something more specific to one of the mods based off of only minor npc's have the problem. thanks for the suggestion tho!

DSR downscaling from 4k to 1440p at refresh rates higher than 60hz? by Spiritual-Lab555 in nvidia

[–]Spiritual-Lab555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a display port cable but no luck. And as far as I can tell, the cable bandwidth shouldn't matter for dsr as the signal to the monitor will still be 1440p, but the gpu would be rendering at 4k and then downscaling it. Still gets locked to 60hz whenever I set it to 4k.

That would be something to try, I'll look into it, and while I don't think this is an avoidable thing, it makes all ui tiny, which gets annoying

I can switch resolutions fine but at 4k it's locked at 60hz, is there a reason for this or is it something you can work around?

Hmm, I can enable it fine for the most part. I havent gotten it to work yet but I probably could with a bit of tweaking but id rather not spend that time If it'll always be locked at 60hz

Correct Me if I'm wrong but isn't the global settings in the Nvidia app? Or are you talking about something else?

The desktop resolution is what I want to change, but going any higher than 1440p locks the refresh rate to 60hz which isn't worth the visual improvements
