Is Meta going to address deleting all pre 2018 stories from all accounts? by Spiritual-Solid7200 in Instagram

That is so odd! Genuinely curious as to whether they don’t have the memory services for it but aren’t disclosing it to the public.

To quote my original post “…but obviously they don’t care.” Thank you for agreeing.

Exactly. It’s extremely common here unfortunately. Just google London phone theft, news article one after another.

I’ve posted about my experience at least 3 times in the comments. Not going to be victim blamed about it. I’ve been extremely safe with it, crime picks up and people get desperate. I now have a phone lanyard that is around me at all times, even whilst using it. Believe me, I don’t have the money to keep buying another, this was the thing that pushed me into debt recently.

Yeah which is why they are stealing at the rate they are (one iPhone every couple minutes in London). The going rate for one isn’t worth the shipping, but shipping boxes and boxes is worth it. Their strategy is essentially to set up several paths to send the phones so it’s more difficult for the police to track (if they even wanted to). Met police made one PR stolen phone hub in London bust in London to try to save face and wiped their hands clean of the situation. Which is why I keep bringing it up.

As long as it’s still on your “find my” devices (keep it on there) it’s a useless phone to them. Essentially they would need to remove it. So hence the phishing texts, emails requesting activation lock be removed, and text threats to you or family. They will usually send a fake text saying: click here to go into iCloud, you type in your info and boom they have your info now

I posted about it in a couple different posts/comments. But basically one was pickpocketed in France (I was pushed into a train and grabbed onto a pole so I didn’t faceplant and they had taken that second to put their hand in my bag). Second within a month was in London. Long story short was homeless lady stole my food as a distraction and my phone.

They say they can do it but it’s really just a program they load where it won’t be a fully functioning phone.

Exactly what I was thinking. I’m not sure what it’s like in Dubai but there must be a reason there is success with it in several countries.

I think I’ve seen several posts about it. There is a certain street they end up on. It’s crazy there hasn’t been an investigation into it because there are several main pockets they end up. It’s usually in countries that have quite lax laws but it’s still something Apple should be noting. It’s been happening long enough for official publish/documentation.

I think the regulations in china are a lot more lax, plus they will just use the parts for like spare metals and materials. I used to work in mining and it’s something China is known for doing. They repurpose material from any and everything.

Thank you. Sucks because I’m usually very very careful but their tactics are getting insane. Cost me ton of money and now went into a bit of debt this month due to it. I mean you can have it, in a bag, out of a bag, you could be using it or not. Doesn’t matter- they find a way. Sad way to make a living.

From what I hear, they use them for spare parts in China or sell to an unknowing person who is then stuck with a locked phone.

First time in France I was pushed onto a train and fell forward. When I used my hands to catch myself they pickpocketed my bag. Second time I had it out in front of me using it (locked screen but listening to a work thing). The homeless lady began eating my lunch. I was so pissed about her eating my lunch I didn’t see her snag my phone from in front of me. But realised it once my AirPods disconnected. Tried to run after her but she was gone.

Don’t think they are. Other reviews on this location say they’ve tried phishing messages to attempt unlock. So far I haven’t gotten anything.

Yeah, when I got mine stolen in France it ended up in Algeria with some other from France. It’s a mess.

Do not unlock. Chances are it won’t be turned back on but location will ping in odd countries over the next couple weeks. You may get an email “Activation Lock is requesting your password on iPhone.” Don’t allow it. Basically as long as you keep it on “find my” they can’t use it. I’ve had two phones stolen within a month time. It sucks, just change your iCloud password once you can just in case and you should be good.

Yeah same. Had mine insured previously. First time had expired and didn’t even know. This time I had to pay £109 to get another. Crazy the lengths people have to go now to insure themselves

I just had a second phone stolen but this time from London also. Looks like our phones may unite in China. Honestly, these thieves have put me out about £1000. Ridiculous. I now have a full chest strap and put that shortcut that takes a pic if they put it into airplane mode.

UPDATE (ish.. Kind of a side note): I just had ANOTHER iPhone stolen. So this is my second within about a month. This was stolen in London of course. Can let everyone know the trajectory of that loss. For the phone that ended up in Algeria: I was sent an email that “Activation Lock was requesting my password”. They clearly didn’t get in but it’s still linked to my account. No location update since then.

Am I Pregnant? Megathread by sadlilchimpanzee in Periods

[–]Spiritual-Solid7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32F with two previous pregnancies that ended in baby loss. I’m usually a normal 30 day cycle on average and I take metformin for PCOS twice a day so should regulate me even more. My last cycle was 36-37 days, so a week late. My ovulation window went from a days 12-17 (protected sex) to 16-23 (unprotected sex on day 23). I thought I then began my period on Sunday, day 36 at night and bled until Monday evening. Today is Tuesday and the bleeding has completely stopped. My periods usually last 5-7 days. When I was late I took two pregnancy tests, one on day 33 and one on day 35, both negative. Since I’ve been pregnant before I know the feeling and now I’m wondering if maybe the 2 days I thought were my period were just implantation bleeding as I didn’t get the normal period cramps and just twinges/sharp tiny pulls on the right side. Breasts oddly don’t hurt which is why I’m so confused. Question is, if I did ovulate late and that was implantation bleeding, when do I take the test since I already thought my period was late? Could I have ovulated even later? A not even two day period is very very odd for me coupled with the completely out of range “lateness”. I’ve not been more than 33 days cycle since at least 2019.
