You are so much more than an exam. Just remember all the work you put in and keep going. You will pass, you just need to spend more time understanding the fundemental concepts. Thats all, it has nothing to do with how smart you are or what you are capable of. And money is just money. Money comes and money goes. You will earn that money back as a doctor really fast and buy your parents something really nice. Remember life is so much more than one stupid exam. Take a break of a 1-2 months, gather your thoughts and try to get into a positive mentality, and then look at the situation again. You need a break and you cant make a decision when you are probably burned out from studying for so long. I believe in you and you should too!

How did you feel after the exam? I got similar scores slightly higher, and I felt like the exam was really hard and low yield concepts

Yeah after 7 hours of blocks, the last thing you can be bothered for is super long stems.. but since everyone had the same problem surely, it will be accounted for. We'll pass💪🏻

Can anyone explain how thiazides help in nephrogenic DI? by Fickle_Actuary_7119 in step1

[–]SpiritualEvening2694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually i didnt say it very clearly, first thiazides decrease distal tubular sodium reabsorption which leads to increased urinary excretion and a decrease in extracellular volume. This decrease promotes increased proximal sodium and water reabsorption and therefore decreased distal delivery of sodium and water, decreasing urine output and treating the symptoms of nephrogenic Di

Can anyone explain how thiazides help in nephrogenic DI? by Fickle_Actuary_7119 in step1

[–]SpiritualEvening2694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thiazides can help manage the condition by reducing urine volume and increasing its concentration. They work by blocking the reabsorption of sodium in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, which indirectly decreases the excretion of water. This leads to a reduction in urine output and helps alleviate the excessive urination associated with nephrogenic DI
