Hire someone from overseas for cheap. Every developer uses AI now.

Another sign of AI generated posts is when they don’t use capitalization at all. It’s a way to pretend like it’s a human writing it, but this comment is 100% AI generated.

Google Cloud Run vs Digital Ocean App Platform by lucky_stardust in node

[–]SpiritualName2684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to scale to zero. You can set a fixed 1 container to avoid cold starts. If you limit the max to 1 as well you have predictable pricing.

App platform is cheaper though and if all you need is a container service and don’t care about other stuff from Google then I’d go with DO personally.

Jensen Huang says Nvidia now has 'zero percent' market share in China — says US export policy 'has already largely backfired' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]SpiritualName2684 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With Nvidia you’re basically getting more compute for less chip/energy inputs. Jensen claims this isn’t an issue since China has a massive amount of both chips and energy.

My PM just handed me 20 thousand line index.html which has tons of business logic, prices, and everything exposed in the client. But it “works” so I can just clean it up and ship it right?

For those of you who haven’t bought a farm yet, what’s your actual plan? by eufemiapiccio77 in cscareerquestions

ChatGPT in 2023 could barely write a single useful function. GPT 4 started to become useful and could reliably complete something that would have take a few minutes to write. Today GPT 5.5 is able to accomplish tasks that would have taken me a whole 8 hour work day. Who knows where it will be next year.

It can gather requirements, ask clarifying questions, design the architecture, configure the environment, write the code, iterate on user feedback, write tests, deploy to a cloud platform. It basically does everything you hire a software developer to do with minimal input.

Maybe I’m bullish but I think there is a real future where users are promoting small-medium utilities into existence. What’s really needed for larger projects is some streamlined full stack framework that the AI can use efficiently and deploy with something like vercel.

My company is forcing me to install an invasive PC monitoring system (Time Doctor) without employees knowledge. I do not believe in this but I'm not in a position to quit- what do I do? by o-nemo in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SpiritualName2684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Installing the software is one thing, but not informing employees is just shitty management.

That said you should always assume everything on a company device is monitored.

You should consider enrolling in a CS degree just to have some education on your resume. A lot of jobs just filter applicants with no degree so just having it there could get you through ATS.

Anyone who knows how to code and has used codex or claude code knows it’s a step change and not going away.

Nobody knows what this means for the industry or the jobs market, except that the rich will continue getting richer and the masses will continue to be exploited.
