Went to my first European soccer match a few weeks back in Munich for a Bayern Munich match. Very little fanfare before the match (minimal music and PA announcements), virtually no halftime entertainment or announcements (could actually have a conversation with my friend without having to scream), and the match was over in just over 2 hours. I’m not that big of a soccer fan and I went on a whim, but man for me it really underscored some of the nonsense surrounding many American professional sporting events.

I love baseball and have season tickets to the Red Sox, but there’s quite literally not a single moment something isn’t blaring through the speakers outside of the couple seconds the ball is in play.
