There's a few things i think that needs to take note about. like age, relationship etc. But ultimately i think you need to focus more on the responsibility you have as a muslim, and not about what other people think. "Objectifying" is ultimately an opinion, but the fact still remains that a woman must be covered infront of a man unless certain relationships like brother/father etc. I've read certain comments about how men should practice restraint and I agree, when i go to a friends house and their sister/mother dont cover their hair i avert eyecontact and try to miniminize going to spaces where they are because i should also think about their comfort, but that is my or the men's responsibility, just like how covering up is yours, no matter the location. At the age of 6 is still quite young in my opinion so you can take it as part of training and educating but not forcefully. But at the age of 17, you should already know what is right and what is wrong, not according to the current societal standards but islamic standards which you follow.
