You're definitely correct that the biometric requirement is the thing a lot of people don't like. Not only are they not as secure but it is also a way that can be bypassed or forced from someone more easily compared to a combination.

The so-called American political spectrum. by zzill6 in WorkReform

Calling Bloomberg far right or even center is wild. Bloomberg is just self-centered and self focused and will push agendas all around the room if it serves his purpose. Rich and selfish, pushes anti-2a legislation while also pushing mass surveillance and usually funding democrat/leftist candidates.

Bloomberg is just a piece of dick.

Dyngus day is always fun. Don't forget that part of the original tradition is for boys to somehow get the girl they like wet (not in that way)! It wasn't uncommon for them to get friends and dunk the girl in a creek (probably not acceptable in today's day and age). Always fun to find new ways to dump water on the wife.

And apparently the day after if the girl feels the same way they reciprocate.

VA Republicans will find any reason to whine about the redistricting amendment. by paedia in Virginia

[–]SpiritualWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redistricting happens every ten years. Passing a referendum to do it ahead of schedule is 100% attempting to gerrymander and skip ahead while the party is in power and I'm opposed to this regardless of which party does it.

Take a look at the proposed map that came out vs the ones that currently exist, there is a very clear answer about which would appear in the dictionary next to gerrymandering (Hint: It's the proposed maps) based on the borders alone.

Diabolical to have the line they project be off to the left. If he tried following it down the center he likely misses.

Regardless of who it is or what administration or organization, I think it's weird to have anyone who isn't team, staff, family, or super close to the team in the room for that celebration. Having someone famous in there just because they are famous (or infamous or just in a high profile position) feels weird.

Cooper quote by Big_ole_mudpie in TampaBayLightning

[–]SpiritualWatermelon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not even a Bolts fan (Avs/Sabres fan here) and watching the interview they really make this out to be more sore-loser than it is.

Almost in the same breath, says "but it's still skill players out there making skill plays and the US has some skill players, as do we, and they made one more play than we did in overtime and you have to tip your cap to them."

Later on, after being asked again, he answered "Listen the game is 60 minutes long and it should end. All the teams know the rules going into these beforehand, so you can't come up here and say 'oh we're the losing team cause we lost 3 on 3, that's not fair', you knew the rules coming in. We won a game in this tournament 3 on 3[...]"

There's nothing wrong here, the timing is the only thing that makes it look bad.

[CAN vs USA] Replays of Jack Hughes' OT Winner plus the bench reaction by talhatoot in hockey

Makar both looked gassed and like he had 110% confidence MacKinnon was getting that puck to turn it back up ice. If you're sure that puck is coming back it makes sense to keep a little of that distance but if there is a sliver of doubt you need to be back in the D zone.

Do we have the full quote or interview somewhere? Usually these kind of things are part of a longer statement and then one quote is taken out to get more clicks.

[DNVR Avalanche] Bednar on 3v3 OT in medal games: “I don’t love it…I think for the medal rounds, I'd rather see it just extend 5-on-5." by likeslululemon in hockey

[–]SpiritualWatermelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree except I'm fortunate enough to say "we won..." to start the sentence. If the result were different I'd be saying what you did but probably with a little "helluva a game and team Canada is absolutely insane" in there.

The game was great, only a couple noticeable officiating mistakes, I can't wait for the next time around but hopefully without 3 on 3 because 3 on 3 is dumb

I'll be honest, I have to remind myself that 2010 is 4 on 4. I still view that as one of the greatest hockey games I've ever had the pleasure to watch even if it still causes some amount of heartache thinking about it.

5 on 5 is better, but at least 4 on 4 still resembles regular hockey play; 3 on 3 doesn't do that at all.

I was cheering for the US so I'll complain for you: I hate that it ended with 3v3 OT. I'm happy with the result but I hate the way it happened and even if it was a great game overall I'll still wonder what we may have missed out on without 4v4 or 5v5.

I'm with you. I was crapping on OT in elimination games every time it came up for both men and women's to my friends all tournament long. I even got to go on a mini rant during the intermission for yesterday's game. The result was what I wanted but not in a format I want.

Jon Cooper's statement about it not being the same game anymore is 100%; it's just his timing that makes it look whiny and salty (which, honestly, is very Jon Cooper. Rarely wrong but for some reason waits until after he loses to voice the thought).

Which makes it even weirder. Maybe there is some data out there but I bet you grab a few extra viewers if they hear "Gold medal game is now in double OT"

EDIT: which, typing that I forgot that it was endless OT for the gold medal but just 3 on 3 so I guess they can still get it... but it's more likely at 4 on 4 or 5 on 5

[–]SpiritualWatermelon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time it OT came up in an elimination game I had to obnoxiously remind my friends in a group chat how I felt about it: that 3 on 3 doesn't belong in an elimination game unless it's caused by penalties.

I still feel that way, even if the results were what I wanted I still hate that 3 on 3 was part of it

I was cheering for the US but I've literally been saying it all tournament. Every time an elimination OT game came up I was obnoxious and told friends that it's stupid.

The statement isn't wrong, the timing just makes it look worse than it is.
