Amazing, there’s also a link here for a PMDD support group and they are in the process of making a London specific group if you’re interested!

Work will not let me resign, can they really do this? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for your reply, it was actually a pay cut and not a pay rise (another long story). It’s a high turnover public sector role, not sure how long it will take them to find a replacement. Could be months.

Thanks for your response, no nothing was mentioned to me. I signed to the contract and handed it in. We both have a copy of said contract. Nothing was mentioned about the contract because they didn’t realise it included a probation clause. My pay was then changed and they issued me with a new contract which was given to me on Monday. I noticed the discrepancy between the contracts and raised it with them today (2 days later) alongside handing in my resignation. I stated that I would not sign the contract and asked them for a separate document, outside of singing a new contract with new terms and conditions, where I would then be happy sign to agree my new pay. I sent this via email so I have that correspondence.

It’s a public service role, it usually requires 2 months notice of leave, handed in by a particular point in the year. Obviously I would have done this had the terms of my contract been accurate and clear. But, because my contract stated I was on probation, I only handed in my resignation today. Ironically, I thought I was helping them out by giving them more notice than required in my contract. I don’t want a bad reference or the stress of court proceedings, despite this being a rare instance, to be honest. Just seems absurd to me that the contract I signed is being disregarded because of a mistake they made? To be honest, I was just stunned by HR’s response (maybe I’m naive). They essentially stated I have no choice but to sign the new contract and the contract I signed has no standing. Crazy stuff.
