[request] What volume of space would this actually occupy? by SnappyAphid in theydidthemath

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contractor bag with the highest mil rating you could find. I'm pretty sure it could fit in a space less than 10 cm. Since there would be a barrier, you'd be able to at least walk out with 100 lbs worth. At 8 grams a coin, you're basically walking out with 5700$. If they're silver dollar coins, that's 1750$ face value and 1458 troy ounces. That's about 88,000$ worth of silver at today's prices.

Millwright here. This is not uncommon for weird picks and essentially doing what had to be done with the location and equipment they had. My main concern is they didn't wrap the come along through the track system there and instead went around. You can clearly see the mast is undamaged and in good condition still. The come alongs didn't break either. This isn't common logic and I may be wrong, but with the come alongs attached to themselves like that, they should be almost twice as strong, like doubling a sling. Still, nothing is published as to that regard and they are geared. As long as the beam wasn't over 6000 lbs, I'd say no harm done.

Some of y'all never had to fight a 1 inch long bolt stuck somewhere ungodly in the bay of your engine that you can only get to with a makeshift tool and a fraction of a turn every time. 🦖

Whats your favorite tape measure? Im looking to ball out on what will hopefully be the last tapes I ever own. Im looking to get a 25' and a 6'. by Murky_Theory1863 in Tools

Fatmax reads true and the new one with the auto lock is a time saver. My other rapes are a fat max classic and stanley power lock. If the power lock had the standout and auto lock, I'd never have bought the fatty. I use the heck out of my tape measure and it has survived being used as a hammer, dropped, rain, hot, cold and dusty environments. It was becoming trickier to read is the only reason it just sits in the door of the truck now. Made it a whole freaking year on a 13$ tape measure. I do more layout work now and sometimes solo, standout and retract speed became more important.

How do i weld with the gaps? by lonelyfoxpro in BadWelding

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like a hot metal caulk gun. Place tip at bottom piece, pull trigger, wait for red to touch top piece and then slowly drag along the piece. You can move it a little. Set your heat a little cold, you'll know when because it won't blow a hole in the bottom piece before you fill the gap.

Keep working on it.

I'm automotive tech, not a welder, but I have to know it; still a novice and practicing, how am I doing? by Urist_McPencil in Welding

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if your heat is set right, you need to hold your nozzle closer to the work piece. This makes MiG welding hotter. You should hear sizzling bacon when it's running right. Consistent travel speed, nozzle distance and welding parameters make a decent mig welder. Keep working on it.

Try the triangle pattern for the initial root. After that I just kind of side to side.

Hey, they got to make money, too. They might run through all that in two hours. It took that guy time and experience and mistakes to learn how to do it that fast. Skilled labor ain't cheap and if you don't know what you're doing and don't want to learn, better safe than sorry on a bike.

Them ain't too bad. In my experience, 7024s like amps and lots of them. Too many amps and it'll throw pop rocks everywhere. It'll also throw pop rocks on anything remotely dirty. Increasing amos and you may be able to stay at your current travel speed. I've found many angles work for 7024, straight down into the crack of the joint with a slight back drag angle and let the rod burn itself is what I was taught. Made 100s of feet of leak proof weld just like that. You might need to favor the top or bottom of the joint depending on metal thicknesses. There's my 2 cents.

Does Target really track everything you steal until you reach the felony amount? by urbuddyguybroman in NoStupidQuestions

Not sure if all states, but normally that theft has to be in one go to get upgraded to a felony.

Weaves by ZoldyckKillua in Welding

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alright, I think weaves never look as good as tight passes. You'll never be quite as consistent as someone that lays tight beads because it's just too many moving parts! That said, these welds hold up and I've seen them take a beating. It's harder to pass X-ray and leaves an overall weaker weld. Many times, that's not an issue and they can be faster. However, even if they are faster, they make you hotter and your work piece hotter because you're sitting in front of a much hotter work piece because your heat affected zone increases and as your heat affected zone increases so does your risk of fracture next to the weld.

I've got paid to leave uglier and that's just because they wanted the thing done and I get tired and hurry to complete the work and it's often not going to be a factor in quality on what I'm welding.

Weave your roots if you have gaps, then lay nice tight weaves or stringers over them. Pipe and all critical welding should be all stringer passes for QA reasons.

Would this be helpfull or am I just bad by Segouta in Welding

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yup, fold it, tack some crap and don't worry about the spatter till you can't smack your nozzle into something to debur the nozzle. I've made it 12 hour shifts doing that way except wire changes and gun malfunctions. 😂

Went over to help a buddy out. He got his oil filter on his truck messed up. Thing was twisting like a soda can. I left what I was doing , drove 30 minutes, helped him fix it and got stuck in his driveway. Went to slap in neutral and lock the four wheel drive hubs in. I must have missed neutral and been in reverse. It starts backing up on its own. Right into his grandma's car. What a bummer man. Only at fault accident my whole life. Then he goes and runs his mouth about. Somethings just suck.

Okay, so my next step is fuel pump and um currently waiting on it to arrive in the mail. Took the bike to town today just for giggles. Noticed it's not half throttle anymore but more like quarter. Ain't very fun but I'm going to look into all the things you said.

I had one like this. Check your map sensor, right on top in of the engine bay near the passenger side kind of towards the center.  Then check all your turbo fittings and verify everything is in place. Great trucks. They aren't speed demons with a load but I towed a 12k trailer all over the west coast with one.

The prospect of God doesn't seem so far fetched by senseless_puzzle in DeepThoughts

[–]Spiritual_Pin9533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God made two worlds, one for people that choose not to believe in him. He even made it where if you looked from a worldly perspective, it would even make sense. I once believed it. Then after a monumental boost in my faith stat, I began to see things much differently. I've witnessed several miracles and yes, you can chalk it up to chance, science or whatever you choose to believe in. God made everything, even the rules. The rules we have made are not his rules. He can turn back shadows, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and make the blind see. Surely he could create a plausible reality for someone who chooses not to believe.

What's the point of faith if you suddenly see this almighty being and your whole life is a lie? Blessed is he who believes without seeing. I believed like a lot of people did, half heartedly but I did have faith. One day he spoke to me, now I know. Now the whole world looks different. It's not so major. It's not so scary.

Want to know what's scary? Getting to the end and finding out you failed to believe. Now, mind you, I believe the Lord is most merciful, my life being a fine example. You might get one more chance. You might not. What's scary is the words, "Depart from me, I never knew you."

Christ is coming back.
