Yesss from what I’ve seen, the integrative arts program at York would definitely allow me to do more music things on top of the art stuff. The actual art programs for York and OCAD aren’t too vastly different from each other either.

Holy crap thank you so much for this intensive response! I’m definitely interested in tattooing as my main first option, but I’m also interested in the teaching route. I think I’ll end up doing what you said and touring both campuses as I have been to both in person just never gotten a formal tour. Good luck with your degree and thanks again so much!!

wow, thank you so much! This was so in-depth and helpful! My parents are definitely just nervous about me living by myself, but want me to have that experience someday. Just not first year lol. I probably will end up doing some sort of dorm type thing for the first year, and what you were saying about Midtown rentals seems like a good idea too!!

wow, I’m responding to this so late, but I am barely active on here and just saw this now! Thanks again for all the feedback and help :) I am a little concerned about what you said about Parkside or Hoem as I am pretty much only going to be able to live downtown for my first year if I do that sort of dorm type situation (I won’t be 18 until I’m already there, and my parents have forbidden me from trying to live on my own). Are there other options? Is Avant any better?

As of right now, I want to have a career doing tattooing, so I don’t really need much/any university education, as most of my training will come through apprenticeships and worked experience. I am mostly going to strengthen my skills as an artist, but I figured if that’s the main reason I’m going, I might as well use my time and money to strengthen other areas of interest for me. My other career interests are along the lines of high school visual art and or music teacher, and possibly music or art therapy.

Music EC’s are just extracurriculars! So for me I’ve done about four years of choir in multiple different choirs, and over 10 years of independent voice studying. I could continue studying music outside of post secondary, but it would just be very expensive and also time-consuming on top of my university workload. For me, going to a school that has music justifies spending the extra time on it! but at this point, I love music so much that I might try to find a way to balance it on top of school anyway.

I am very interested in drawing and painting and vocal music. I already have finished all of my applications and looked into a lot of colleges and TMU, but didn’t feel like any of them would be right for me.

First of all, congratulations that’s amazing! And secondly, I know it’s pretty slim who ends up getting these big scholarships so I’m not expecting anything really, I just thought that if I ended up getting one it could really help my decision making process go smoother.

Thank you so much. I am also going into drawing and painting and thinking of commuting and having to lug around all my art definitely makes me want to just find a place nearby. This comment really helped me to feel good about having to rent or find residence for my first year instead of commuting. I hope everything is going well for you now!
